The next El Mirage meet is Sunday Sept 12. We will be getting out there Sat afternoon. Who all is coming? And should we try another meet up?

  6. We had a great time at Bonneville but need to make some repairs to the engine in the "Brick" so I regret to say that I wont be there till the last meet in Nov. But we look forward to seeing all of you then. ;)

Sorry to hear you hurt the engine. I'm still waiting for the alarm clock to go off and wake me from my dream!

  8. Enjoy the feeling! I'll be there in Nov. and hope to atleast have the El Mirage record this year but the Bonneville E/PP belongs to someone else.

I went to the June 2010 meet........and was sort of disappointed.
The race cars were great, but there sure weren't many spectator hot rods.
It's not much of a drive north of I-10, so I was expecting lots of hot rods and hot rod spectators, but it sure seemed weak to me.

My advice would be to go to Speed Week at Bonneville, and skip El mirage. Bonneville is 5 or 10 times better!

No can do - My young daughters were born around the same time as the Bonneville dates, so leaving the country is a real no-go. I went to World of Speed last year, and although it was nowhere near as big at Speed Week, it was mecca to me.

One trip to the US for two weeks can get you to the Antique Nationals, El Mirage and LA roadster show, and plenty of weekdays for hot rod shops, going to the Broiler, Speed Shops, visiting friends, so I guess beggers can't be choosers.

Right now ElMo is my training to hopefully someday run Bonneville and to most its their test track for Bonneville. El Mirage definately has alot more attendence at its May and Nov events. I live every month for the next meet. Sept should be nice and hot, dirty and dusty, cant wait!!

  22. Funny, I thought it was about the racecars.

Thats the one thing that makes me laugh about the Bonneville threads on here. You see a thread on Bonneville photos and you open it only to find its 30 photos of rat rods etc. taken outside one of the casinos on Sat. night. Hint: Its called SPEEDweek not SpeedWEAK. Get it? Bonneville is for goin' fast. Car shows are for posing.

I've been doin ElMo for many years and only started racing this year. I have enjoyed looking at the cars in the pits more than watching the cars run so I know where hes coming from, BUT it is what you make of it. Just being there in that enviroment gives me a little tingle down below, now that Im racing its a big tingle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The overall vibe was disapointing.........I look up to what goes on in California. I came from 2000 miles away, and was suprised that more hot rodders, H.A.M.B. members, ect. couldn't make the short drive up to El Mirage for something that neat.......just like lots of things on the H,A.M.B.......lots of talk........but not so much action.

The L.A. Roadster show a week later was GREAT............El Mirage was weak, and I probably won't bother to go there again. I was just trying to let other guys that have never been there know that it was a disapointment to me, and that I didn't think it was worth going out of my way to attend..........Sort of like the so cal locals must think!
