I would never ask an owner to never let anyone other than me shoot their vehicle. Who does not want their car in as many magazines as possible? It's all about exposure with some. And I have no problem with that.

Its a question of ethics and professional courtesy. If I do all the leg work, get the releases signed and start shooting, Im on the clock (so to speak), and this is what I do to make a living in this world. I would not roll into another photoshoot in progress, which is taking place a 1/4 or more away from everyone else and start taking my own pictures. Its just poor judgment. Nuff said.

    XOXOXOXO

"I plan on bringing a sign with me next time letting people know they are welcome to hang out , but no photos please."

Then this is probably your best bet and will clue others (plus the owner of the vehicle) in on what's going on at the moment... a private/solo photo shoot taking place and in progess.

    I've seen this done before:)

    I like it! Cool!

The weird thing is I was just getting ready to draw an open wheel narrowed down image of the "Lil' Red Wagon" wheel standing Dodge… ala Ed Newtons narrowed down car idea… "There is nothing wrong with your television. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are now in control of the transmission. We control the horizontal and the vertical."…

You can "claim" a photo shoot area at Bonneville? - Thats kinda wide open - hundreds of people pointing cameras - maybe you need a crew and some flashing red lights

I am on your side of this argument.
I have been on shoots that I have set up before when others would literally step in front of me (at my own shoot) to take a couple of shots -- and not even act like they were doing anything wrong

Probably not, but then you don't go out and grab just anyone's tools to work on your ride or block someone's pit. You try to give everyone their space. It's called being courteous.

Let's see, I go out ahead of time to see where/what time the sun is setting, then find an area with a decent background remote enough that someone isn't standing in the background picking their nose or scratching their.. uh... bald spot, move the car so it is in just the right position, set up my equipment, wait for the light (sun) to get in just the right spot, and some dildo comes up and wants to poach my setup?

Like Buick59, I don't take to kindly to poaching either, but normally don't get too verbal about it. I have asked if I could watch or help on a shoot as there is always a new trick to be learned. But, I would never ask if I could take my own shots.

Don't steal someone elses vision. Go find your own and it might be even better. There is a lot more to a professional shoot than holding a camera to your eye.

    95%
of a great photo is in a good photographer's mind before they even pick up the camera.

And that's why they get the biiiggg bucks. ;)

Those are both of the cars that put Troy Trepainer on the map. Nice shoot, how did you get them both together?

Hahahaha.... Sorry, but they both look pretty silly! The bag that holds his hair cutting tools is classic. If I saw this dweeb on the road It'd be pretty hard not to want to run him down.

hey, what happened to last weeks show? it was stickied then it wasn't.

  26. Jeff's on vacation. I have a request, Can we keep the Art show free of arguments and
honor the wishes of the administrators to keep the show art centered?
I believe the issue brought up this week was very valid but we have the F.A.S.T. groups and PMs as outlets for debates and critiques. If an overtly O.T. post appears (re: The BETA... what the hell is that???) we can kindly redirect the artist and get back on topic
and keep the integrity of the board in check. Just my 2¢ ...

I like the mid week art show....The Friday Art Show is great, but I sometimes need a creative boost to make it to Friday. Maybe we should switch it to Monday...and let it go to Friday...Take weekends off.
