1/4 moldings are from a 55 bel air, without the piece that goes up to the window. The ford has a lot more tapper towards the rear, so it takes some pushing as you tighten the moldings.

When my '49 Shoe coupe is ready for trim , it'll most likely get '55 Chevy BelAir chrome , hopefully with the paint dividers & all ...

    Here's my friend's '50 Shoebox sedan that we've been working on , sporting (slightly-modded) '54 olds trim . The car's not done yet , obviously , lol !

I realy like the side trim on this Weesner print. Does anyone know what kind of trim this is?

  18. I wish I had a picture but back in 98 I saw a 50 Ford parked outside the Glass House in Pomona that had 56 Pontiac Star Chief trim, looked awesome.

I don't have any photos 'cause my 1949 Club Coupe is still mostly in pieces, but FYI, I'm running the stock side trim EXCEPT I'm using Business Coupe tips--the front fender pieces that don't say "CUSTOM".

I like 'em 'cause they're a little more low profile; and I like the stock trim on an early-style mild custom 'cause I think it just gives it a nice long, low, straight line. I like where it sits in relation to the rear wheel opening, especially 'cause I'm not running skirts.

Some great ideas here. It's really nice to see all the photos.

  22. that print looks to have shorted factory side trim and maybe the buick side (cut) trim (that alot of people use on mercs i.e herohatta sp? )

19Fordy..the side trim on this car is very similar to the weesner trip. according the the article about the car The side trim was made up of '52 Buick Riviera Sweepspear and '53 Oldsmobile side trim pieces

and Incase you also like the grille in the weesner print I believe its '47 Oldsmobile grille like the one in this 47 ford built by Gene Winfield.

I've seen so many great looking shoeboxes fall short because of lack of side trim. (There are some exceptions). I really feel these cars need some kind of side stainless to alleviate the slab-sidedness, plus it just gives the car that extra bit of class.
Here's the side trim choice for my '50: (It has since been permanently installed.) 1954 Buick wagon, ala Ray Soff's "Connecticut Yankee".
I think the trim compliments the roof line.
