Go ahead punch me in the face because I am once again without a driving hot rod (or custom). Here I was 3 months ago with a running driving '52 Mercury that I was enjoying the hell out of it. It was the car I was going to bring my son home in and take to shows with. Then that itch came back (no not that one....Valtrex keeps that one at bay) and before I knew it I was in deep trade discussion for the 1933 3w coupe you see here. A deal was struck and my Merc headed up to Minnesota a week after my son was born. I had my father in law head up and get it with my truck since I did not want to take time away from my son so soon. And it was a good thing he did because the day they headed up was the day my son went to the hospital.

Anyways, so here I am without a driving car once again and part of me really misses my Merc. But I figured that this was my shot to own a Model 40 so I jumped on it and it's in my garage as we speak waiting it's turn.

The plan for right now is to just look at it and not fuck around with it since I have my '35 to finish. I also will have to wait some time for my funds to replenish them self after some overtime and freelance work but it's nice to sit back and dream about where this one will go. I really wanted to start my '32 next but since that's a waste case and this one is so nice I might change my course.

The car came with a ton of shit and is absolutely rust free. The quarters were cut off in the 30's for gas rations and were replaced with SAR pieces a couple years ago. It also has a new floor and the doors shut like a dream! Pretty much the only big thing this car was missing was the axle and Jordan (5wbomber) has be covered there.

    Things included....

-8BA Flathead with Edelbrock heads and 2x2 intake (94's)
-Rebuilt T5 Trans with complete speedway adaptation
    -Full set of vingtage SW's
    -F1 Steering Box
    -1940 Ford Rear
    -Title with matching frame
-Restoration parts such as door handles, radiator rods, etc
    -Dash
    -Hood
    -Split front radius rods
    -'40 Wheels
    -Brand New Firestone tires

...and some other things I am probably missing.

Here it is leaving Josh's and heading back home...

Cheesy but whatever. 21 is my son Memphis' birthday (7/14 added up) and D is for my wife Davina.:D:D:D

I plan on ditching the '40 ford wheels and using them on my '32 eventually. Replacing them with be '35 Ford wires with 7.00's and 6.00 firestone blackwalls. I'll run the flathead (thought about using a cad I have) but switch everything over to 59a stuff to save space. Undopped axle with reversed eyes and a spring or tow removed out back. Right now I see it pretty basic with maybe a brush painted dark chocolate brown exterior with a black leather interior. I am going to use a '39 Cadillac center mounted gauge cluster and a 5" SW tach my wife bought for Christmas last year. I'll also run a full hood with leather straps that run over the tops and down to the frame. '39 Chevy taillights, BLC's up front and voila, it's done....well in my head at least. Like I said, it'll be a good while before I can ever start on this thing but I am grateful and stoked to have it.

Here's what I am aiming for....

The old Merc's are cool, but this is definitely a step up, especially in the condition its in. Hope you're going to do a build thread on it.

Well the trade was pretty even I think. I mean he definitely got a nice Merc that runs, drive and stops like a champ but yeah if this thing is running it's definitely a step up. I really had to do some shmoozing with my wife since she loved the Merc more then anything I have ever owned. I am just really glad to see that the new owner is enjoying the car and should be taking his kids for cruises as we speak!

I'll definitely be doing a build thread when the time comes. I mean, I'm a hack so I need guidance from you fellers haha!!!

  7. Man, I really do want to punch you. That thing is going to make a sweet traditional 80's tubbed pro-street-rod.

  8. You did awesome on the trade. Thats a hell of a nice body, I got first dibs when you decide you want something else next week ;)

I see you already have it rat rod flat black with blood red wheels. A few skullz and that 307 you've been itchin to dump in anything and you'll have a sweet rat rod in no time! I sure hope you don't coupster it like you were telling me you wanted to do....

If I could reach that far.... Too cool man! Looks good, and it looks like the '35 isn't that far away - you might be into this sooner than you think! I like the way your thinking on this one, but if it were mine, that '33 grill and hood would be up for a trade for '34 stuff in an instant. but, that's just me. Nice to see a good rust free car for a change!

Please, I cannot remember the 80's since I was just a wee lad. The 90's though, with the easter egg paint definitely brings back great memories. Now if I could just sell that flathead for some 15" Billet specialties wheels and matching steering wheel I'll be set!

I figured you'd pick up on that. Nice to see you can spot one of your own. Instead of the coupester I was thinking of cutting off the quarters again, switching to a truck bed ('88 s10 of course) and then using the '33 quarters on the '32!!! Bitchen!!!

Ehhhhhhh pahfooey! By the time I get this thing on the road I am sure there'll be something else that people are over doing. Anyhow ask chris, I love spiderwebs!!!!

My son is home and doing much better. Thank you so much for asking. He had one surgery 2.5 weeks ago and will have to have another but he's getting bigger and stronger....and louder hahah!!!! Definitely was scary there for a while and I'm still terrified but my wife seems pretty confident she knows what going on with him and that she knows what she's doing so that's a relief.

Still waiting on that Hospital bill. Might have to send this car down the line if it crushes me when I see it. It's only a car though.

Yeah I really didn't plan on chopping it any more. I didn't know if that slight wedge chop was going to bother me or not once I seen it in person but not that I have it mocked up at my vision ride height I sort of like it. It gives it some movement. Thanks buddy.

Hey Coby showed me that pic he took in front of the Casino in Bonneville of your truck. That thing turned out awesome and I'd be super stoked to drive that....well forever!!!

WOW!!!!......Looks super clean, and like it's already hauling ass while standing still. Great score. And I love that the barter system is still alive and well.
