Went to Gas City Fri. night to help my friend Joe Ligouri in a Focus Midget. Joe's mech. went to the hospital due to the heat. He is ok, but I gave Joe's grandpa Ralphie the Racer a ride back to Indy. That guy has some great stories! Anybody got some pics of him to post? Oh yeah Joe won the feature, it was the luckiest Fri. the 13th I ever had.

Another off topic post but my little brother's car place 3rd at the Knoxville Nationals last night and they won their prelim night. Atleast my post will keep this thread at the top.

    Hi Harley Gene,
Just got my schedule of events for Winchester. Is there anything going on or any reason to get there on Friday or do you suggest getting there on Sat. am? Thanks

I'll be at Winchester but can only go Sunday

  9. To answer the questions about the Winchester Old Timers on Sat and Sunday, August 21-22. Their will be some things going on this Saturday. Not a lot but some. Still putting the final touches on Saturday. I recommend if one is bringing a vintage car to the WOT, that trailer parking and unloading will be a lot less hectic on Saturday.
Sunday will start early with the mandatory drivers meeting at 9:30 AM. We will want the cars that want track time to be unloaded before that. We have to get the cars in the infield that are going to take laps before the hot laps start at 10:00 AM
Please contact me direct with any questions " before " Saturday as I will be at the track from early Saturday morning and all weekend, so I won't be checking my emails after late Friday night.
As Circletrack40 said, please let us know you are there.
Looking forward to seeing you there,
    HG

I am looking into putting a new square style full cell in my midget for ease and safety. I can fit a 5 gallon easily, but I may be able to squeeze in an 8 gallon.

For all you guys running vintage shows such as Winchester and Darlington, is 5 gallons enough for an average chevy II midget?

The golden years really suck. Super Duke reports that Dee Jones is having to fight cancer again. Dee Jones and Jud --same mold-- elbows up all the time.

    gnuse,
It looks like Speedy's car still has the one of a kind rear suspension on it, does it? My Dad knew Speedy back in the 40's [Dad owned the Southern Star] and raced against him a lot. Cliff Giffith was also a good family frien that drove for Speed some back in the 40;s. In the mid 60's Cliff took me over to Speedy's house to help mea ride in Speedy's car. Speedy told Cliff that he was done running a Sprint car driving school, as more than one had crashed his car. The last of the bunch was Buzz Grergory, so I did not get the ride. Speedy showed me the rear suspension and told me how he thought it should work. It must have worked pretty good, but I have never seen another car fixed like it was. Is it still like it was then?

    Ken,

It is easier if I just keep them at the WG link.

    http://www.williamsgrove.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=33603

I will say I`m not sure what happened this year, but there were very few Midgets that took track time compared to other years I`ve been to Latimore V.

    Ken,

I think I will post some midget photos over in that thread on the HAMB after all.
