The Belly Tank = "Speedweek '72"
Conrad (cowboy hat ) w/ dragster and trophy 1967
Dragster w/ trophy = "I brazed two antifreeze cans together to make gas tank."
The color pix at night were taken on the rural road in front of Ed's house where the boys were doing a "test & tune"

The dragster was built in Ed's father's barn in Buckland ,Ma.That's the house and barn in the pix. They both look the same today.

I talked to Conrad today and he will bring it to Orange no matter what shape it's in. We're running out of time to complete the static display but IT WILL BE THERE !!!

Actually we are trying to keep him on our side of the hill but out of the valley, been too valuable helping on Conrad's new lakester build along with another of his Night Cruzer buddies. We'll get them to Maxton and hopefully on to B'ville before we're done.

Congratulations on the stout runs and the record this week, been following the car's performance since I first saw it at Maxton. Could drool looking over that metal fab work for hours, neat little note still written inside the nose? Hard to be humble eh?

Front wheels in the photos are Thames van wheels (Anglia truck basically) Here is another set back in the day . You talked about the road test and cows above. Stu Denyes who was partnered with me at the time owned the chassis and drove the car. Stu went off the road at his fathers farm one evening at about 110 MPH. I can still hear the fence stretching and did it ever stretch but it never broke . The car went way out in the field and the fence pulled it back in but it never upset. Stu was a little shaken and got bounced around quite a bit as he had to drive out through the ditch at still quite a good speed. Luckly he was not injured and like these folks had no helmut on either. I still wake up at night occasionally ,hearing the fence going "creak creeak creeeeeeeeak". We must have been nuts!

No trouble at all Glenn, more like a chance to grab the rare opportunity to get out and see so much history in one place at one time. More importantly get to see and hear the pioneers who were helping to start making it all happen well over 50 years ago when I was still a bicycle riding wanabe. Old iron is neat but the people behind it are neater, heroes to me then and still.
