Here are links to a couple of videos I cut together from an old reel of film my grandpa had transferred to DVD. The first 2 are of Santa Ana Dragstrip and Bonneville, the 3rd (Havent uploaded yet is Daytona Beach) These were mostly shot by my Great Grandma. The video shows many of his cars as well as cars that ran with his motors. You can spot many other famous cars as well. Features my great grandfather Harry Duncan, Art and Lloyd Chrisman, Wally Parks. I think i also spotted Ray Brock and possibly Eric Rickman?? The video of the Chrisman Coupe getting the trophy also includes a cameo by Roy Rogers.

Check it! I thought it was pretty darn cool...

Outstanding. It is great that your Grandmother took the time to shoot it. Thanks for sharing it with the world.

Song 1 Stick Shift by The Duals

Song 2 Race with the Devil by Gene Vincent

Song 3 Fat Back by Link Wray

You'll more than likely have to "purchase" ;) multiple albums to get these.

Bravo. Excellent. I especially like the sun-flare as G'G'ma followed the cars down the track. That, and the footage of the pits made it feel real. A lot more real than stuff you see shot today with "good" cameras. And a neat variety of cars, from 'specials' to daily-drivers. Not too bad with the soundtrack, either. Put together 45-60 minutes of that, and you could sell 'em for $19.95 all day long.

OMG!..... that is some FANTASTIC stuff right there....oh the days of early Drag Racing look so fun and innocent and the cars are killer, even the daily drivers are so cool ..... really loved seeing the colors in the second one, gives it a whole different perspective when you can see the colors....LOVE THAT STUFF MAN PLEASE POST MORE....... Thanks

Hey thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Id love to. Id love to sell em to raise funds to build a clone of one of his cars or any rod for that matter. I'm getting married in October and trying to save for a house (living with in-laws) Don't see any hot-rods in my future  Desperate times call for desparate measures, Currently I'm playing CA Lotto scratcher's like a madman...
The trouble with it is... the music. I dont own it. Its borrowed, and I'm not sure what would be involved with doing it the right way. It did cross my mind though.

    Daytona Beach, FL.

This ones different from the others. More home footage of racing. This is footage of the "Suddenly 60" HRM special. You know you have a hot motor when Ray Brock, Wally Parks and the HRM Gang want to run it.

    Chrysler + Alky = :)

This stuff blew my mind! There's a lot of cool cars and interesting folks in this clip. Crack open a brew and enjoy!

The shots of Harry Duncan and his cars are well worth the video alone, and the other stuff is also great. Harry Duncan was a pioneer in the early '50s hot rod scene, and his cars and engines set records at lots of places...he was a building contractor (DuncanBuilt Homes), and partnered with many of the hot rodding greats.

OK I'll ask who did the music on Vol 1? Great films VERY entertaining!

What equipment is needed to convert film to digital? I have some 8 mm stuff I'd like to convert.
