Thanks for the" no news" update. I keep seeing this thread and checking for news other than "BTT" or "bump". You have got to know that whoever you are holding that truck there will be a HAMBer looking at it/you and knowing what it is about the time it sees the road. The newbies will certainly be aware of the situation from the way this thread is kept at the front, more eyes looking...
It is good to hear that you are able to drive, and hopefully ALLOWED:D to soon .Chin up and keep the faith. Be sure to post a new thread when the truck turns up I'll be watching for it!

  17. You know why people do this shit? Because there is little to no repercussion for it any more. Way back when (1960 or 61) we had a 354 CI Chrysler Industrial hemi with 2 x 4's stolen from our shop. When we caught the guy and recovered the engine, the police gave my dad 10 minutes with the guy alone. They told him "no broken bones, no open wounds and no face damage". He went and beat the hell out of the guy. Then he went to jail. He never stole anything again and he is still an acquaintance of ours today. He learned a lesson that day.

This sucks. Unfortunately over here on the east coast there are at least 6 trucks just like yours in my area. I buy and sell a lot of parts for ADs and have not seen anything here.
So easy to change it up or take it apart. Change the cab and prime it black its gone.... Put olds headlights and a 54 and newer bed its gone so keep and eye out everbody for fresh trucks 47-55. If you had insurance dont take the settlement real quick. After you do it aint yours anymore...been down that road before.
Good Luck and we are looking here on the east coast.

BTT Try calling auto towing companies? Much like police impounds cars just set. I have recovered two stolen cars from towing lots. Good luck. I hit a lot of Swap meets and will be looking.

Thats a great idea. If somebody took the VIN off the door post and removed the plates no way for the towing company or cops to know whos it is...NO NUMBERS any place else. One of the reasons these are so easy to get new papers.
Maybe a reward in the dealers ,towing and recovery papers.

Bump again. Another thing with towing companies is they work for Banks. Banks repo cars. Oftentimes cars are repo'd from less than desirable areas. Tow truck drivers are usually pretty sharp on cars. Possible that the dude who did it had access to a rollback or quick recovery unit. The reward money may help. Just some more thoughts. Good Luck.

  25. Time to get this back to the top....................I still have hope this will be found intact.
