Does anyone have access to the October 1977 issue of 1001 Custom & Rod Ideas and a scanner? There is a reprint of an August 1933 article of "Plans for a Depression Era Dirt Track racer" that may be of interest. I have earmarked the issue due to the detailed drawings in the article.

Here ya go! Have access? Hell I didn't even have to fully extend my arm for this one! (It was sitting on my Printer/scanner!) Do remember to click to enlarge! I just realized that some how I messed up the order. Take a look at the page numbers on each one, and go from there. Hell, it might be easier to print them out. Start with page one on the last post. Sorry guys.

Thanks for that need louvres. I have the issue myself, but alas, no scanner. From memory there is another one of this type of article in a book I have at home. I'll have a look for it, and maybe someone will be able to put it up here on the thread also.

Here is the first modified that Dave Gale built, late '60's or early '70's.I got these pictures from his sister upon his passing in October of 2007.Dave was barely in his twenties when he built this one.

...this is a great thread and I just have to add my own car to it. Its nearly finished, next week I start on the exhaust and the headers and then its only to go over the car and make sure everything is tight and all the split pins have been fitted and its start the engine and away we go (I hope) so I have added a couple of pictures of how its going. It has been a 2 year project and I can at last see the light at the end of the tunnel. The firewall and cowl have been made from a wooden buck pattern that I made up from a T Cowl and used a A Model radiator shroud as the pattern for the aluminium surround. The body was designed around the T Bucket and modified. The chassis is a A Model and has been boxed and raised 8" inches in the rear. Hope you all like it.

It's good to see this thread back up again. As I was going through it I realised the last time I saw it my car wasn't finished so I hadn't posted any pics.

    So I will now:

...so glad you like it! Nothing like having some praise for the work that you do on a daily basis to raise the spirit. Pete your car is great, would love to see it in the flesh, I know that you come from up around Castlemaine somewhere so no doubt will cross tracks-are you going to Bright? Anyway just a couple of extra pictures and not as large this time. Do have them all from the time I received the chassis to today...enjoy
