So who has the most bad ass mill on the Hamb

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dynaflash_8, Aug 4, 2010.

  1. It's funny, I was just in the can reading Rod & Custom from Sept. '53. There is an article on putting an Oldsmobile in a Chevy. I wonder, back before '55, if guys would look under the hood, and say, "Gee wizz, ANOTHER Olds/Caddy engine!"

Actually, I used to say that in '55. Oldses in particular. But the Cad always had a higher place, (yes, similar stuff, but the ring: "Cadillac.") When you asked what somebody was runnin', they usually said, "Forty-Eight Merc." Then, "Olds..."
But "Cadillac" always made an impression, just elite.

Anytime someone asks what I'm runnin' in my '55 F100, I give 'em somethin' to respect.

    "Forty-Eight Merc..." They say, "Whaaat?"

Well I know there are alot to choose from, me I like early olds's. Paul's got a couple nice ones and Goatroper builds some insane ones too. If I gotta go by cool points I've always liked Megan's Ranjo conversion, not a brute but more than enough to get down those Ohio back roads.

Paul here on the HAMB always has some really nasty motors. Littleman's 392 or the 327 in his truck are also pretty nasty. I know that Bass takes great pride in the machine work and everything else that goes into his engines from the 331 to the 265.

I know some of you guys don't like a late model, but I don't give a shit.

I didn't own it but I sure as hell poured a bunch of sweat down her belly to make her preform for me.
P.S., I'd kick your ass with it Lippy... HeHe!!

Why thank you! I'm pretty found of it myself :p

This is wayyy too tough a decision to call. I've seen what a few of these HAMB guys don't show on the HAMB and it is pretty wicked to say the least!

Few less aces in sleeves after this game .....

  29. Here is my candidate. This is a one of a kind M/T HEMI Pontiac bought from the original owner who bought it from Mickey in 1963.
Blower set up my Gene Mooneyham, Hilborn 4 port injected flowed by Dale Emory, Engle Roller, factory cast HEMI block, alum heads, magnesium intake, front cover, fuel pump extension, Tom Beatty blower drive, Jackson gear drive, 421SD crank, Crower billet rods, Arias pistons, Vertex magneto.
I just got it fired up last night! Sounds sweet.
An engine very similar to this won the US Nationals Top eliminator in 1962 beating Don Garlits in the Final. It has it all, ultra rare, so rare many have never heard of it, lots and lots of horsepower, a trure vintage nostalgic piece, a winning record and lots of visuals.
Here are a few file pictures

The motor went drag racing in the early-mid 60s, sand drags in the late 60s and into this Hondo flatbottom ski boat in 1972.

I'll nominate myself for this, 392 block with Moldex 4.5" billet crank (471C.I.), KB Main girdle, Milodon gear drive, Hotheads T/F rocker shafts, Big Roller cam, Hunt mag, Lenco supercharger, milled out Rochester 2G 3x2 carbs, topped off with a Pete Jackson scoop.
