A friend of mine in Fla. called the other day to tell me a bout a new custom car he had just purchased. As he described it I thought he had finally succumbed to old age and lost his mind. AS described it started off with a 52 Chev Hardtop, the original top removed and a chopped 54 top was installed with a 1 piece windshield, 1950 Cadillac rear fenders and trunk lid, body was then sectioned , pancaked hood ,59 Corvette grill and side coves with full length steel cruiser skirts.Along with many other alterations including custom interior with swivel bucket seats. Then painted in a metallic beige colour. It sounded like the song that Johnny Cash made famous while putting together a car from stolen parts from the factory .

What a shock I got when I recived the pics I was totaly BLOWN AWAY.

I hope you guys and gals enjoy them as much as I did.

I can appreciate the workmanship and the top /rearend treatment, but what's up with the billet interior and the front end treatment? The frenched headlights kill it for me.
    Nice paint tough.

i wouldnt have imagined picturing the car as described. I definatley appreciate the work that went into the car. But not feelin the billet and interior, strayed away from traditional.
But hey its his car and congrats to him.

There's a lot of "streetrod" in that car. It's on the verge of Gold Chain for me.

You have to forgive the billet on the interior which is being replaced as we speak, along with a Chev original style steering wheel. I dont know what you are thinking by not liking the frontend and headlight treatment, I love it. The workmanship is awsome.

I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in it...

  13. Everytime I see a kustom with those Hagan headlight kits it always make me throw up in my mouth a little, but just like the billet interior they are visa/easy and off the shelf. The rest of the car is tastefully done, classy colors, subtle styling cues and a nice mix of 50's GM.

Nice kustom. Someone liked Corvettes. And kustoms are the boom.

Cool car and I'm glad to hear he's already replacing the steering wheel, so it sounds like it is in good hands.

Can anyone tell me what those little trim pieces that are under the tail lights are from?
They certainly match the caddy fender, so I'd think that's what they are from, yet I've never seen them before.

Let's talk alittle bit about Kustom's. And true kustom is spelled with "K". But this about kustoms and streetrods. Not hot rods. This stured up alot of shit on streetrodding. To me kustom guys and streetrodder ar'nt in the same ball park. Streetrods ar'nt kustoms and hot rods are hot rods it seems like those two go togetter better. And some streetrodder dont think it costs more to build a kustom. DONT TRUE. Just have Gene Windfeild build one. If you can get in and who long you want weit. And the mind sets are diffrent. ? What do you guy's think.

    Bullshit... :D

Custom with a C is just as relevant as with a K. The K thing was just a novelty and really doesn't make a lick of difference. I prefer to spell correctly. :p

and what's a 1954 Chevy Lead slade.?

and your profile says STREETRODDING FOREVER. hunh?

Not really "old school", but very well done. "Old school" cues, but a lot of streetrod-ish modern parts.

    Thanks twochops

And regarding the kustom with a K thing...
That is just a gimmick that Barris came up with shortly after moving to LA.
As in 'Kustoms Los Angeles' which is the club he started shortly after moving down there.
Before he moved to LA, he started 'Customs Sacramento' - notice the 'C'
There were great customs, 'true' customs as you say, built before then.
Harry Westergard would have spelled it with a 'c' and that's good enough for me.

Now back to this here car...yes it has some more streetrodish things on it, but also some very nice and different 'custom' mods done and since the new owner is apparently already dumping some of the streetrod type stuff, I'd say it is on it's way to better things.

    Overall I like it.
