What products have you discovered work for things not intended by the company that made them? As an example oven cleaner for cleaning greasy parts, or the many uses of Bounce fabric softener sheets form polishing to vermin repellant. share your discoveries!(please spare us the wonders of beer making women slimmer and more attractive etc.)

 

WD40 for anything you use it for other than displacing water

 

Kendall 50wt oil on my garage floor kills cockroachs!

 

The bathroom cleaner with scrubbing bubbles does a great job on tires or anything else rubber.

 

Brake cleaning spray will work on greasy items of other sorts also.

 

wd40 for green ant bites

 

Use butter for this, it works great to remove pitch off your hands

 

simple green for cleaning white vinyl, whitewalls

wd40 for water in the distributor cap

vinegar/molasses bath for removing rust

chrome polish cotton wadding for buffing out OT foggy headlights on new cars



Coca Cola has many uses from removing grease, to removing rust, to cleaning your engine

 

Liquid soap is great for squeaky fan belts.

 

Coca Cola is excellent for breaking up and washing off spilled blood.

brake fluid and copper brush for cleaning cast alum parts,specialy int manifolds.sos pads for major hand cleaning.

 

EZ Off for creating faux patina....

 

Never seen anything kill European Wasps as quick as carb cleaner. They literally drop out of the air dead.

They are some tough mothers that laugh at insecticides and even take a bit of killing underfoot.

I wouldn't have believed it if one of the mechanics at work hadn't done it right in front of me.

 

An old favorite.......Coke (the cola) for cleaning off battery corrosion.

 

I have a swamp cooler at work. It goes funky after awhile and smells like fish. I put a beer in it one day as a joke, {nothing like the smell of fish and beer at the same time} and about a hour later, it was fresh as a daisy! Good for a month at a time. I use the 32oz natty light. 2 years later and I still haven't had the need to clean it out.

 

Gun wash (spray painting gun) as carby cleaner it's amazing !!!!!!

 

Meat tenderizer and a 'lil water works great for getting bug ass off paint.....bugs is protein.... spray on......let sit a few.......wipe off !!

 

that's also good for treating stings

 

I was out of wasp killer and grabbed a can of Gumout and gave some a shot that were trying to build a nest under my deck hand rail. I think that the 2 that were building the nest got 2 feet and dropped to the ground.

I shot a couple under my table umbrella with Pledge furniture polish, polished those suckers off, not as fast as Gumout. I plead innocent for the odd stain on the underside of the umbrellla when the wife saw it.

CRC Penetrant as a flame-thrower. Great bug killer!

 

If you have the sudden need to clean your concrete because the city is coming to inspect you because your horrible neighbors have accused you of running a chop shop kitty litter and a floor buffer clean it pretty darn good, even almost completely removing those pesky oil stains. Just have a broom handy because it is a little messy.

And coke a cola is great at dissolving metal too. -GothY-

 

Powdered laundry detergent works wonders also, just add enough water to get it pasty and scrub with a push broom. My neighbor years ago had the hydro's on his lowrider dump in the carport. The soap even got out all the really old stains.

 

Powdered laundry soap also works well for masking windows and other bits prior to painting. Mix a paste using a small amount of water, then brush on. Let it dry, paint then when the paint dries hose the masking off.

 

Sweet! I'm getting ready to shoot the front of my house, that'll save me from holding up the overspray shield so much!
