I do I drive my 64 cadi coupe deville everyday. the days I dont drive that I drive my 57 ford wagon, my 49 olds, or my 72 suburban. The wife has the only new car and I like it that way
back in the 80's my driver was my 61 Dodge. commuted 200 miles a week on 880 between Fremont and Oakland, which is a pretty shitty stretch of road at commute times for a big ol' car with a 3 speed column shift and drum brakes. my backup car was my 62 Caddy. I didn't have a regular car at the time. these days my old cars are not moving under thier own power. with all the cel phones and gadgets people are messing with while driving I don't think I'd do it now. too much stop and go on my commute and too many idiots
How do you want to play this one... My avatar has been my daily, but also my only transpo for almost 17 years now. I once signed on with a big corporation and was handed the keys to a brand new company car, and handed them right back. I just don't fell comfortable in late model cars, nor do I feel safe. For awhile my commute three to four days a week for work was from Phoenix to Yuma, About 180 miles each way. Drove every bit of it in the Plymouth. I left the company when it was suggested that my hot rod scared the "old folks" in the R.V. parks I worked in. They always seemed to love it.
I usually split the duties between my coupe and my pickup, assuming they are under their own power. This week, I drove the roadster, since the assumption about being under their own power didn't hold up.
I drive my 65 F100 when I have to go somewhere. It is the only thing I own out of 11 vehicles that is insured and licensed. A couple years ago I drove a 63 F100 in the middle of winter with a 4 speed and 292 Y-block. It was reliable but I couldn't stand the noisy mechanical lifters.
