Looking great. Is the front subframe in good shape? If it is, a couple of diagonal braces from the top of the firewall to the front of the subframe would be fine. I'd put the motor in place and headers and fit the bracing so that everything will clear and no surprises later.

The subframe is in really good shape but Im going to remove the inner fenders so Im using 2X3X 3/16 tube. Got one side done and it looks pretty good. It has to be stronger than stock.

Couple diagonals similar to these will triagulate the front end (no problem with damage from wheelies ;) )

Your project looks like its coming along nice. What width axle kit did you use? Between you and Chuckles Garage I'm leaning more towards a '65 falcon for sale over here. My 429 would love it!

On my Falcon I added to the factory rail, and added support with 1 3/4 tubing that attaches to the dash bar/cage.

    Looks good.

cool build , what is the measurement from floor to top
of front wheel opening? I like the way it sits.

It is 32" to the top of the wheel opening.

I actually got to spent some time with the Falcon this weekend. I got the passenger floor cut out and cleaned up, and the new panels trimed up and ready to go in.

This weekend I picked up a 67 390 FE and a close ratio toploader, so I am going to 86 the 302, tunnel ram & automatic for a blown FE & 4-speed. I think I will be a lot happier with this.

That is going to be sweet. I figured Chuckles Garage would approve, also.

Nice work, love those Falcon gassers!

Got the FE on the new engine stand I built, the old one wasn't strong enough to hold it up. Now I can start the tear down to see exactly what I got. It's supposed to be a 68 390 truck motor.
I was able to get some work done to the right floor pan also.

I have a soft spot for the early Falcons. One of the best looking cars when it comes to a gasser.

I got to spend some time working on the Falcon over the weekend. I got the clutch and brake pedal assembly and steering column out of one of the donor cars. I started converting the steering column to be like a floor shift column. I also was able to get the right hand toe board and floor pan trimmed up and welded in. I should get the Hurst Verta-gate shifter I bought off ebay in the mail tomorrow. I cant wait.

That is the best kind of shifter that I have ever used. You will be happy with it. Yup, blown big block is much cooler! Glad ya found it. Can't wait to see more pics of the progress.
