If you do use wooden blocks, be sure to use pressure treated lumber to avoid termites.

if you put that large of a block in there would you have to notch the frame?

Im not sure if this was directed at me or not, but No is the answer.

as you can see in that picture the weight of the car is on its suspension..( see the jack stands) the bump stop you see in the picture is a good few inches from touching the housing, and i trimmed them a bit, and installed air shocks , i plan on using this to haul trailers and people so i wanted the ability to pump up the rear if needed due to its lowered ride height.
I probably got 3" maybe 3.25" im not exactly sure..i went for what looked right to me against the drop i did up front, and my purpose for the car

its not "slammed" but than that was not the direction i wanted

I did it at high school one afternoon in the school parking lot to my 48 Chevy I had at the time. My wood shop friend made them out of oak and by god I put them in. They got loose on the way home from school and I lost one of them as I was coming down my street. I wanted my car lowered pretty bad. Its funny now.:D

A guy in high school used wood 2x4 to jack up the rear of his '56 chevy - had the ass up so high you could see his belt buckle when the car was faced at you!

Yeah they use wood but they also have steel frames holding that conglomeration together.

well, I had to add my two cents, The Marcos. a british sports car in the 60's was constructed of a plywood monocoque frame

Woodn't those blocks be unsafe? I am running lowering blocks from the parts store on the rear of my Galaxie. They were around $30.
