Reading little issues of R&C stuffed inside a textbook in high school, Larrys cars would always have me dreaming of maybe someday. Especially the Chevy. A great loss!

Just thought of a discussion we had once about today's paint products that cracked me up. He would refer to it as that FU*kin' "Commie Paint" ! As he pretty much refused to use it!

Aw man, I'm seriously upset, I never met him but he was a huge influence, he was the epitome of cool. His work is his legacy, he is immortal.

Dang. There's not a custom painter out there that hasn't been influenced either directly or indirectly by Larry Watson.

    RIP.

Guess Larry will finally find out if Iranians were really hiding in his toilet...that is, if his maker's willing to reveal the truth.

Keeping my fingers crossed there are no bans on spraying lacquer in heaven. RIP Larry

Sadly, another great one gone. But, he left one hell of a legacy. True hero and American icon.

  14. As I said in the other post met Mr Watson in late 80's early 90's at the rat fink shows at moon and bought a poster of the grapevine and had him sign it and then he said to me since you are out of state lets get a photo together and you can send me a copy. He was very down to earth and was easy to talk too. His influnce on car industry is very deep to the point I dare say influnced the big 3 back in the day.

Reality sucks when it involves a loss as great as this.
    R.I.P. & condolences.

He once told me he liked my photos and to come by his shop sometime... now I have a regret. Gonna go home and watch the Barris DVD we did together.

Awe man so sad.. RIP Mr. Watson.. He's up there with Roth and all his buddys keeping an eye on us!!

When we interviewed him with George we spent 2 hours together filming.. it was a gas having those two going through images and talk trash about some of the cars built back then.. they were so funny together..I had the best time shooting that. I would run into him at a shows and he would remember me and start to shoot the shit.. and that was a honor..

He's one on my hero's for sure and we will miss you very much Larry...

Nope, death waits for no man, but few get to leave a legacy as huge and important as he did, most of us will lives of utter anonymity, he was too out there for that, he was destined for greatness.
Unfortunately the mainstream media won't mention his passing, arguably he might be the greatest influence on custom car painting ever, an art form that's ignored by the cognoscenti anyway.
