What a great sign......most people do not even use cash anymore. Notice what looks like an early street light hanging just below the sign.....

I’ve actually noticed a resurgence of cash-only businesses, lately; or places offering discounts for using cash (a few gas stations in the area - though they seem to have stopped). Antique stores have offered a cash-or-check discount for a long time now.

The odds are good that if the building that housed the little grocery there still exists, it’s got some kind of urban coffee shop that operates on a cash-only basis. Things come a full circle, eh?

Lansing sure looked different back then.

Any chance you could re-post these over in the "Rustbelt Historians" Social Group?

Go to www.shorpy.com and they should be the first listing under automobiles.

The results of an earthquake in Santa Anna Calif. 1933. This Essex made out a little better than whatever is behind it.

Must be the same quake that shook the Packard dealership in Long Beach.

Probably predates income taxes too (1913?). I've got some berries to deliver to all the cash stores...

Jimi, your absence duly noted. The instructor has assigned you some homework. You are to find out what make of car this is, and give the class a report on the special features such as that aerodynamic windshield and those wild headlamps.

Homemade cars? On the HAMB? Let's see, here's one EG sent me ages ago. I think this might be a one-off...

Maybe EG disappeared because Twin6 and T-head wouldn't let him drive.

I think this one had to be homemade. The seat and axles all look like buggy parts. And I don't think they had Ackerman steering design in mind when they dreamed this up. Maybe the original fat man wheel, though.

Here's another from EG, which I'll post for him while he tours in Ohio. There's just something about babies and chain drive cars, like they were meant to be together I guess.
