3. The Over The Hill Gang, started The Route 66 Rendezvouz.. It used to be the coolest show. But the City Of S.B took over with Stater Bros. Groceries. Jack Stater retired with 800 million dollars in the bank. So I haven't been to the show for many years. But I went to meet up with this chick for the first time there, just this last year. Perfect free first date, I don't trick off money like that. She's has to earn it! But anyways, I can't believe how bad that show sucks. That was at the same time they killed my friend Sean at the Bo Huff show, just a couple miles away. The good ol' days are gone!

Great job ob the photos Mr Jean.
As far as paying 150 for a spot in HAN goes that's one expensive parking space. Yea, our cars make the show but spectators don't pay and there must be overhead like insurance etc. I live in LA so there is no "drive to" which is what it's all about for me anyway. "Gotta drive em". The comment about 90% of the cars are sold refers to an auction. The LARS was $35? for specialty parking. I can live with that.

This is great news...I've participated with HAN in Reno from 1988 - 1992...it was alot of fun but then "undesireables" began infiltrating the show which resulted in a riot where all casinos and venue were shot down....they allowed 5,000 cars in and even though they had dedicated streets to cruise on for participants, it was a nightmare to drive around without overheating..then the following year they expanded the show to 6,000 cars...so I stopped going as a participant. Long Beach should be a much better venue for the show.

14. NO WAY will I pay $150 to show a car/truck, that's just a rip off, plus the over priced food & drinks they sell! They should be paying the car owners for making the show!!! cw.

Do not do this!

I live in Reno and HAN is the worst time for thieft, random vehicle damage, and wonderful gang violence. All the boyz from Oakland and such come up to start stuff.

Its bad enough on the strip these days with a cop every 20 yards but outside that area your begging for it.

I've been going to HAN for over 20 years (except when away with the military and the last 3 years) and the event gets more out of control every year. I stopped going a couple years ago because of this crap.

Lots of other small events during HAN are more fun then the actual event IMHO since all the rigs are already here. Not to mention here you can see the car and BS with the owners. During the event the owners are fighting off kids, touchy people and everybody else over a velvet rope most of the time.

Probobly not but I'm hoping the LB event takes a lot of the slack out of the Reno event and brings it back toward what it used to be. Three weeks apart is rough on folks to make both shows. Really if the gangbangers are going just to steal however they will make both shows so I dont know if it will help.

During HAN NHP has a unit stationed at Bordertown, N. HWY 395, and probobly S. HWY 395 just to intercept the stolen hotrods. That just shows me how the event has evolved.

However if the LB show turns out to be the smaller/nicer event then probobly. Guess we will see next year. I may go this year however but I'll be bringing my comuter...I hope they steal that one!

Your car is sick I'm not a flames fan but those fit the car very well.

What about the Atlantis lot show? I love that one, and the A&W lot on Plumb lane after sunset. Going to either of those?

Am planning on the A&W show (free), and the Atlantis shows are where I have parked right on the other side of their marking tapes with a lot of other rodders who do the same (for free). Thanks for the compliment on the flames, I just had the pin striping redone on it.

21. No way $170.00 for Reno and $150.00 for Long Beach plus hotel and the price of gas at who knows what by summer.
The price of gas is now over $3.00 plus and going up here in San Diego.
Unless the $'s are going for a good cause I'm not paying or going to the
hi-buck shows.
We built and or paid for our cars and they want $'s for us to show them?
NOT!
Its time for us to stand up and not go or give our $'s away to the greedy folks who put on the shows like this.
Go to your home town street shows and enjoy yourselves.:)
I only wish I could pass this on to the folks at Hot August Nights.
If you know how please do so.
Thanks
PS Do the math 6,000 times $170.00 = $1,020,000.00 and you get a bag full of junk plus maybe a ticket for more junk.

22. Tell me about the free shows.
Our grandsons live in Fernley.:)
Thanks

I went last year and have already paid for 2011. It is worth $170. It is not A car show for $170, it is a week plus cars shows plus lots of other stuff for $170 bucks!

It sounds like this is going to be a "one hit wonder" . Everyone I've talked to has said they have absolutly no interest in this event . A lot of fluff and no substance .

25. $150 is about my whole budget for the Ventura Nats! Too many shows around for less.......without Streetrods and PT Cruisers.

I hope the event is well planned but, whats to say there won't be any "undesireables" from nearby hoods in LA; Carson, Watts, the Valley, etc. Must be a million potential gang bangers in the immediate LA area.
I don't frequent LA area too often, but anytime I've been through the Long Beach, LAX, 405 area it's congested big time. I'm wondering what their plan is for "dedicated cruise routes"?

Maybe the promoters can pull this off, but the HAMB crowd probably won't be their biggest supporters. Like Mazooma said; no lawn chair events. Maybe back to the roots, poker runs, breakfast cruises and garage nights are more our style.

One things for sure; the foreign gold chain auction buyers will be all set as they can DRIVE their auction purchases right into a waiting shipping container at Long Beach. I'm sure there will be a booth set up just for the cause.

27. yep you got that right ..

28. My thoughts go past the 170 entry. it's Reno biggest draw of the year. to show their appreciation. they double the room prices, tighten the payout on the machines and stick you in everything you do. hell the hooker probably raise their fee too, everyone else is screwing you.

The Hot August Nights business, (even thought they have a non-profit status because they donate just a few bucks to some local charities), is just that, a business,..for-profit.
The H.A.N. capitalists stole what was a grass roots show, and turned it into a money grubbing monstrosity.
H.A.N. is now run by people that haven't a clue what cars are about. Not being satisfied with fleecing the rodders that come to Reno, they now want to expand and do the same in Long Beach. I hope they lose their asses on this event.
After waiting for years to be accepted, when I finally was, I couldn't believe they wanted $170.00 EVERY year! No way in hell are they getting any of my money.
With so many cool shows going on all the time in So.Cal. I hope ya'll find something else to do, instead of letting H.A.N.s pick your pockets.
