We are having a great time at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds at the great BTT-50's show. My favorite brother in law Lawrence and I are hanging out with our friend Bobwop and his lovely girlfriend Carla. We have looked at thousands of cars, met new and old friends, ate some good food, attended day one of the Mecum Auction held on the grounds and have cruised around in his 37 Nash sedan. Weather is perfect at about 80 degrees. I don't want to go home. Here are a few of my photos I took today. Just random shots that show the wide variety of vehicle at this event. <center>

The auction was fun and since Bob is a frequent buyer we got VIP seating up close and I took a couple of photos to show what that is like. Lawrence and I bought some cool restored gas and water cans from old gas stations. <center>

My pal Lowbuck from MO was there with wife and grandkids and told me a cool story of how they got hit by a rock or something that went thru the radiator south of Des Moines and was leaking coolant bad. They called their son Shawn who googled some radiator repair shops in the area, called one and set it up, he kept stopping and adding coolant for 10 miles, got there at the shop, the guys yanked his radiator, fixed it, added 2 gallons of antifreeze, and charged him only $30 and he was back on the road fast. Pretty cool huh? <center>

I met some new friends from Dayton, Ohio who drove this 40 Merc convertible. He is a Hamber and I am sorry to admt I have forgotten their names. Good people. Also you can see my pal Seesko from MN standing behind the car. He owns a 40 Merc as well which he had at the show. <center>

Great shots Pov, what great weather! Don't worry about that floozy Bopwop was messin with, I know her kind, they act sexy but are cold as ice and pay no attention to anyone. Thanx for sharing brother. ~Sololobo~

  12. Thanks for the pics. Looks like some great cars this year. I'd say I wish I was there but I saved $400-500 by not going AND have an extra $5000 in my pocket cause I sold some stuff to a guy last night. Wouldn't have happened if I was in MN :(

There is always next year and I have my army of good friends passing out Symco propaganda, so I am still there in spirit!

I get to go to a local car and vintage boat show today, which will be just as fun. Not to mention I get to take the maiden voyage in a freshly built '65 galaxie! It wouldn't have been done if I would of took off Thursday for 50's like I usually do.

Hope you all have a good time and see ya next year....or in AUG!

  17. Great pics guys. Be careful going home. Fabulous weather!!!

  18. Good photos, thanks for posting them. I like the cars that your son likes too. I hope that you are encouraging him to keep taking photos at the shows. It won't be long before he looks back on those photos and remembers going to the shows with you as a kid.

Yeah-he's got the advantage of being just the right height to get the angle of the shot. Makes a big difference I guess.

Ok, day 2 was fantastic. We had perfect weather in the 70's with overcast skies and a light breeze. We were there for 13 hours and never got burned or worn out from the heat or anything. So pleasant and relaxing. Cars and people everywhere.

We spent day two (Saturday) looking at cars and attending the Mecum auction again. I finally saw legendary Hamber BobK driving around and he took time to visit with us for awhile. Here are a couple of photos including me and BobK. <center>

This Henry J brought about $18,000 or so at the auction. I sure liked it but it was kind of a pro street style car and had a nice red and white roll and pleat vinyl interior. <center>
