Hot Rods I got to build some headers for a cool old deuce.

This old roadster was a hot rod in the early 60s with a big dual quad Olds. He drove it for a few years or so then took it apart for paint...

Yada, yada, yada it never got painted and has been apart for 50 years. So, finally, they guy decided to get it on the road before he kicks the bucket.



Not too many store bought headers for a big Olds in a 32 Ford, so I got to whip up a set. Nothing too exotic just a three tube job, but it was cool to work on a bitchn old car.

Would be interesting to know what he paid for it 50 years ago. I'm guessing $2500 or less. Anyone own a time machine they want to rent out or a few hours?

Cool, those headers have the just right look for that engine in that car. It looks like his "one of these days" is here as far as getting the car together.

 

Looks to be the right headers for the car to me. Great job.

 

I built a set similar to that four years ago for a buddy, they worked just fine, looks good on his A-bone too.

BOONES...HUMM a custom built EXAUST for sure, and your work is excellent. but i'am not sure about headers. to me each exaust port should have it's own pipe coming to a collector box. at least that's the way headers appear to me. again boones your work is fantastic, and no disrespect is intended...POP.

I was going to say " you're joking, right?" But fortunately I saw the wink before I did it!

 

Obviously no real experience with early Olds and Cadillac OHV V8's.

 

ZMAN...WHEN your run three pipes with the same diameter into one pipe with the same diameter, it's an exaust pipe plain and simple- like you...POP.

 

Like I said above and in the PM back to you. The early Olds and Cadillacs had a single center port, like the flathead Ford as well. They're still exhaust headers, always have been, always will be. And please spell it "exhaust". Someone get the old man back on his meds....

 

all pissing matches aside, it looks good man. Clean, real clean. I'd like to see that style tie into a set of lakes.

Did you hammerform the center cone over a mandrel? Looks like a nice tapered shape.

 

Pop, a quick look at your post history didn't seem to show anything you built yourself.

Why dont you start a Thread with some of your own stuff in it.



People have been getting Dramatic on other peoples Build Threads, lately.

And there is no reason for that...

METALSHAPES...where is your post on HEADERS YOU BUILT. and brother people have made constructive remark's here for a long time. hell one pearson told another member, his paintjob SUCKED and he realy FU..CKED up. I didn't hear one damned word from you about it. I guess he wasn't one of your buddy's and if you had bithered to read my post, you would see i paid the original poster MUCH RESPECT...POP.

Hole shot, Because of the angle of the front and rear tubes going into the center straight tube the system is airflow balanced as the radius of the outer bends equal the distance of the offset. Airflow Physics, its all good in the old skool neighborhood.
