    Bill,

I have no idea. It's a Swedish car. I stole the pic from somebody's flicker account with some Jokers' car show pics.

I love this pic. It shows clearly how it was done and is a good reference to look to...

Here's one to look up to!!! Everything in it's place and the paint work on the firewall is mind blowing!! Definitely have my work cut out for me if I plan on painting my own black.

Scooter, it's some sort of modified Fuel Injected '57 Chevy 283 Motor. The finned box seems to be the same but that contraption off the side is different.

I just can't get over the slick black paint. I can only hope my firewall turns out 1/2.....no 1/4 as good.

Alright since this pretty close to what my finished engine should look like let me ask you a couple of questions. Where do you think the voltage regulator is mounted? How many of you guys mount them on the inside of the car? Any cool places to keep them out of sight but easy to service?

I started sanding the casting marks off my exhaust manifolds to have them chromed much like HHR did on this one. But then I started to think that I am going to have way too much shiny stuff going on so I am hot coating them satin black to match other accessories. Also what about fuel blocks. Most of the time I see them on firewalls but once in a while I see a few mounted off intake and they look great.

I'm looking for details on motors so if you have 'em post 'em!!!

i changed the generator on clarence to a one wire internally regulated alternator; thus eliminating the problem and some of the wire clutter. if i hadn't done that it would probably have wound up in the stock location more or less. which would have been on the firewall near the steering shaft. i wouldn't have liked it, though. i don't know if they generate heat or if there are any other considerations, but if not i would suggest putting it inside the car. or even underneath.

good call. an engine that is all chrome or polished aluminum has no contrast and looks bland. $1K of chrome on an engine doesn't look as good as 3-4 critical pieces chromed and the rest painted. see pic in response #13. not enough contrast for me. even a darker color engine block and water pumps would help.

i don't have pix, but i prefer them on the intake. i think they look way less cluttered than hanging them on the firewall. see pic #2 in response #42. absolutely gorgeous engine and firewall, but (imo) the fuel lines detract from the overall effect.

these are all just my opinions. prolly worth less than what you paid for them.

I primed my firewall last Friday so I am getting closer and closer to finalizing where everything will go. I think I am going to make a mount off the intake to house the fuel block and I am going to put the voltage regulator on the passenger side since that's where I plan to mount the generator. Still would like more idea and examples of clean engine bays.

Here's a few that fellow Hamb member took....

Nice looking motor and S.Co.T blowerr but those AN fittings need to go.

Here's a couple engine bay questions for ya!!!

What's the best factory engine bay (satin black) spray that you've found? Is there one that you guys swear by when bench building generators and such? What about durability and keeping it clean?

Also what are you favorite brands for water pump belts on Flatheads etc. My Dayco broke after only a few weeks so I am looking for something else.
