Awesome video...... I's 9 minutes long, but very much woth the time to watch! Awesome footage of some of the greatest wheelstanders as well!
I remember watching the Hemi under Glass race side by side with the Little Red Truck at Detroit Dragway back in 1972. It was great to see them that night. George
I got to see him a couple of years ago at Speedworld. Does his pass, turns around and starts the return pass. Just after getting the wheels in the air , the trans let go! What a sight. Pieces of the rear glass, 5/16 lexan, came over teh fence near us. Scored a piece of it and Bob Riggle was kind enough to sign it before he drove back to Prescott to pick up the injected car for the 2nd day of the show! Still have that piece of window. Wouldn't part with it for love or money. jerry
Thank you for posting that. I tried "racing" a regular wheel chair once. I ended up going around in left hand circles. I would imagine brake steering at 130 mph must be much harder.
The Hurst Hemi Under Glass and the Little Red Wagon were the featured performers the last time I went to the drags.....in 1969 at Amarillo Dragway. I guess I oughta get out more often....
Fabulous Video....Thanks. I have my 1:18 scale model. Lets do the Hurst "Hairy Olds" sometime too. The memory of these cars will go on forever.
My dad told me stories about the Hemi Under Glass when I was a kid. He was in awe of that car. He didn't have pictures, but his descriptions were so vivid. The first time I saw it in person I just stood there, all the memories of my dad's stories came flooding back. I gotta call that guy. - Joe
