Pics of Really Cool Stovebolt Valve Covers and Side Covers Please...

I'm thinking of what to do for my 261. I've currently got the stock Chevrolet script cover and it doesn't really ring my bell. Maybe a chrome or painted 216 cover? I've always liked those as far as factory covers. Or maybe a polished aftermarket? I don't know. For the side cover, I am completely undecided.

So show me pics of what you've got. Installed or wall hangers. Factory stock, aftermarket, or super rare one offs. Let's keep this to "real" stovebolts- 216, 235, 261.

Here ya go. Wayne valve cover and engine turned side cover I made. Home grown valve cover on my pops modified roadster (322 in gmc)

Those are from 6inarow. Super nice quality, but a little plain for my tastes.

 

Here's one of mine - a little less plain. The thing about the ones I've shwn you is that they are a lot rarer than the Wayne or Offy ones you cann buy today.

BTW these are Graham Headers - not Fentons that most guys run.

 

I got my brother a chrome 216 cover new on rebay a couple years back. It looked pretty cool, and was about 40 bucks I think. Car is gone now and I have no pics unfotunately. I think chroming the stock script cover would look cool if it is the one that has the oil fill at the front and not in the middle.

Yeah, unfortunately my script cover has the oil fill in the middle. It's just "ok", but nothing really to write home about.

You can get a Wayne valve and side cover from Patrick's Antique Auto. He's the guy that makes them. Call him up, he's super cool and passionate about the stovebolts.

I'm new to all this. I've always wanted an old car to restore. I just got a stovebolt yeaterday and already planning what to do with it. I'm going at it a little backwards cause I still don't have a vehicle to put it in, but I couldn't pass up a nicely priced rebuilt motor. Most cars I find don't have one anyway. Keep the pics comming, learning. Cast numbers put my motor at 1958 to 1962 with a displacement of 235. That's as far info that I've found. I'm liking the offenhauser covers that the fins wrap around to both edges. Belive that's what fits my engine.

 

Modified Offenhauser. Going to finish the side cover the same way when I find another Chevrolet script.

 

Lets keep this one going! There has to be more!!

A better view of my (maybe the only?) one pc full height 235/261 sidecover. CNC milling could be definetly be considered untraditional but the reverse engineering, application, and cutting techniques could fit into old school.

 

Here are a couple more to add. There are other nice looking stovebolt valve covers out there too. I have seen several at local shows. The cover with a matching side plate does really look good.

What you have is not stricktly a "stovebolt", so most of this stuff won't fit yours, unless you have an early 2 stud valve cover. Your side cover does not extend into the side of the head. There's plenty of stuff available for the later ones like you have.

 

Am I reading this right. you started with a regular Offy cover?? That is exactly what I am looking for.
