    It is the '54 I have in the classifieds. If it does not sell I will start working on it. Not sure wether to keep it a long bed or take it down to a short bed. I would also need a motor for it, not sure if the Olds 215 I have would be powerful enough even though it has more hp than the 235 I6. I have a big Caddy motor but I don't want a BB and I might have someone interested in it.

    Here is my '57 when I was 16, about 3 weeks after buying it;

    Here is my '57 when I was 19 and just starting to take it apart;

    And here is my '57 today, at 28, damn school and jobs have gotten in the way since the early days;

    When I was young, everyone told me to cut it down, I dont plan on ever cutting it. The vision I have of it being long and low is too good.

    Not much of a rod, but a long bed. Back in the late 60's I fixed this up and towed with it. It was cool for back then, at least for me and my little budget then.:D

    Here are pictures of my 65 Chevy 3/4 ton Custom Camper Special longbed.
    It has a new crate 350, 700r4 OD trans, front suspension upgraded to 72 Chevy with Disc brakes and power steering, tilt column, it also has a new Vintage Air ac/heat unit installed. Its a great daily driver.

    I think the early 60s C-10 longbed looks awesome when rodded out. and the F-100 of that era dont look to bad either.

    IMHO, longbeds are the only way to go.

    Short beds are for goats. :)

  13. Polacos old ford is about as nice a longbed as you're going to find and that's a fact.

    too bad its too fast, and the paint is too nice, and the fact that the stance is about as perfect as it gets. its just a damned crying shame that he owns it and not me.

    Now onto '50s long beds, there is just something about a pontoon fendered long bed that just doesn't seem right. Slab sides look OK in long but long step sides are just hard to do anything with.

    That F-100 is sick. Would love to have a truck like that some day.

  19. You have to find a pic of the Ayala Brother's GMC. You CAN make a long bed cool, really.

    I heard a guy the other day talking about trucks and he said he wouldn't buy a longbed to build. You know who gives a crap. Trucks are trucks as for longbeds go you can get your Harley in the back no problem.

    soon as i get this 47 coupe ready in time for bowling green in 2 weeks,i have my next project in the cross-hairs. a 1958 studebaker pick-up. and yes,its long wheelbase. rust-free truck,still running/driving with the 245 6 and 3 on the tree. will give way to 70-81 camaro stub,10 or 12 bolt rear, 455 olds or buick power (i have both) and wide whites on chrome reverse. dropped nicely,done up in old school push-truck style.........

    Just got rid of a rodded '71 C10 long bed that I absolutely wish I would have kept. I'd post a pic but it's not H.A.M.B material and not what you asked for. Love long beds though....alot more fun than the shortbeds I've had and they ride a little better in my opinion.

    Holy crap Mr. Polacko, I dig that.

    It's a lot more of a jalopy work truck than a rod but it's a longbed and has has a 350 chevy/ Sm420 Combo. It's on a '67 f250 chassis too. (dana 60 out back).

    It's not a rod but it's quicker and louder than you'd think a rickety old tin can should be.

    I watched a video of that thing on youtube. That thing is beautiful and it sounds so damn good. Good Choice on rodding a pilothouse too.

    Longbeds are no good. I have no idea who would even consider them rod material. Especially not me. :D

    I bought the stock front bumper for this "long bed" GMC a couple of years ago.The guy used a 55 Chevy sedan bumper instead. He had it in Cobo Autorama in 2009. Very NICE truck!! Mel:D

    I prefer the proportions of a long bed on most trucks because a typical short bed tied in with a rather bulbous cab makes for a catfish looking concoction.
    The long bed diminishes the visual mass of the cab.

    I have a 66 chevy pu longbed. Lowered with a little rake. I was gonna go shortbed, but after having it awhile it grew on me. and everyone want's or has the shortbeds. I've gotten to really like the longbed fleetsides, especially lowered. Mine's more of a mild custom though.:cool:
