Hey James. I saw the before and after pictures at the show and everyone has to respect the craftsmanship that went into the car. People are trying to compare the outcome to other Zephyrs. Not fair.
I see that Santa Maria has inspired you to change your picture to your "work in progress" Cadillac. YES!!!! Hopefully see you again soon to hang out.

    So much time and money.....

    So little style and vision.

    Just my 2 cents.

this car is awesome, the lines flow perfect. I do agree on the black window trim though it needs chrome.

not feeling it, it seems stuff was done just for the sake of doing it. Nice work, I just think it could have been so much more.

Most of the HAMB membership are honest with their opinions and will state those opinions openly whether you agree with them or not. Nothing wrong with that, everyone has their own opinion. I know alot of the guys personally that have stated they do not like the car and they are not haters. In fact, lots of them are highly regarded on here because they do know what they are talking about.

In the end it really doesn't matter as long as the owner is a happy camper with how the car looks.

I can appreciate the hard work, but it doesn't flow at all like the others I've seen. Hopefully it looks better than the pictures. Rubber around the windows doesn't help.

IMHO (worthless, I know), that one's even worse..... Looks like a smashed VW from the back...
I actally don't dislike the topic car, but would not have done it that way either.

Wtf is that coming out of the grill? And how does he drive it, is he a hunchback?

Definately a lot of work went into these cars and I can appreciate that. To me though, these seem to be built for a different crowd. A crowd that's a little to into that Discovery Channel hot rod and chopper look.

A lot of work does not make a car cool.

Being different does not make a car cool.

Sorry, but that Zephyr is a disaster.

Everything was taken WAY too far.

looks like it was built in a one car garage and never rolled out to check the overall look.

lots of craftsmanship but no eye for what looks good and what doesn't

Funny you should mention Discovery Channel. I was just thinking it looked like some sort of snaggletooth lantern fish...

Oh man, that's hilarious! It's like someone tried to make it as horrible as possible.

  19. I saw the car in person this weekend. While I can appreciate a lot of work went into the car, I too thought it was a fibergalss car at first. Unfortunately, the chop on the car really turned out awful. The fadeaway fenders are a decent touch, but the cheap deco-rides grille and the screwed up lines really ruined the car.

I am a HUGE zephyr fan myself (I own 2), but didn't spend a whole lot of time looking at the car.

There were 2 VERY nice Zephyrs there. A 37 and a chopped 39, and also a decent *almost* stocker 39 as well. I spent much more time pouring over those.

you know i think it's pretty cool that they started off with a five window and got a three window zephyr in paint parked on the grass in santa maria. cool or not cool, ugly or not ugly thats not your car. give the guy some respect for finishing his vision.thats why this lifestyle is becoming a scene.

the A.S.S. Zephyr is pretty rad..

  24. This was at Santa Maria as well. Much nice proportions. Unfortunately this is the only picture I got of it.

Piero, that zephyr is gonna be beautiful. Owned by Dan Peterson. and the design and custom body mods were all done by Gary Howard. We're doing a custom chassis and everything inside at ASS. Once we're finished with this phase, it will go back to Gary for paint, then back to us for final assembly. It's really a treat to do a project in conjunction with Gary.

The owner of this car has had it for sale in the phx metro area for at least a couple of years now, he can't give the f*cking thing away!

    Not quite right!
I designed the chop on Dan's '37 Lincoln, and Gary liked it so much that even though it meant a whole lot of cutting, sectioning stretching etc he would go for it anyway. Gary's work on it is exquisite, and he did design the rest of the car (as far as I know).
But the way the top is chopped, the window frames thinned and the trunk sectioned... is my design.
