Hot Rods will this dry out? truck in a river

a friend posted this on facedook, not sure what happened

It looks like it's in the bend of the creek. I'd leave it, it will help keep the water from eroding the creek sides.

Anyway, wll it dry out? Not if it was mine. I'd open the rear and make sure that it didn't get any muck in it. Hopefully nothing got in the tank but being as submerged as it is, I wouldn't risk it. Off it would come also.

 

I bet theres a cloud of profanity hangin over that deal........dave

 

Drying it out shouldn't be that hard as cars and trucks get dried out all the time after they get dunked but I'd be worried about how much damage is done to it getting it out of there. The wrecker driver is really going to have to know his business to get it out of there without major damage to the truck.

Looks like one of those parked it in that great photo shoot spots that went all wrong stories in the making.

 

You have it all wrong. It is a "street rodder " who found the HAMB and wanted to patena his gold chainer truck.....

I've seen that truck show up in event coverage several times in the last year or so and it always looks like a hell of a nice truck street roddy or not. Hope they got it out of there without more damage than being wet.

 

He could sell it on Ebay as a "swampfind". But in all seriousness, I thought all streetrods are required to have a park brake, to get their NSRA sticker.

 

That would make a good day into a bad one. May have been a pain to get over the concrete edge.

bummer... No rude remarks here. Pick front up & use some long ramps to roll the ass on to . Better then leaving the exhaust in the creek.
as far as damage, take rear end apart & look . Had enough wax on it to bead off . Wtf.
hope no one got hurt , besides pride. My 40 won't get close to water .

 

If that is as far as it went in, it will be just fine. Drain the rear axle and pull out the shafts. Let it dry overnight. Reinstall the shafts, refill, and resume your regularly scheduled hot rodding activities.

 

Guess it has something to say about having an EMERGENCY BRAKE in your vehicle,huh??

 

i guess its better the back half than the front! cheaper fix that way...

 

did as stated above about rearend, etc. as for getting it out, once a friend got a full size pick up stuck in a dry gulch. a guy with a large back hoe lifted it completey in the air with chains around frame by rear bumper and got it out. set it on flat ground and it started right up. the truck drivers boss never found out.

 

Drain the rear end fluids, flush and refill. I too hope they get a wrecker driver that knew his stuff, as as it sets the damage looks minimal.

 

I guess no one thought of the flood that happened a week or two ago. The op is in TN.

That being said there were numerous cars tractors horses and everything in between in rivers and creeks when it was all over.

Seems like the only real damage would come when they go to pull it out, flush everything and go.

 

Wood bed? better get that outta there=swelling and then some!
