I'm just about to go see a guy about a used Beverly Shear B1 and I was wondering if anyone has seen a nameplate like the one the seller provided (hopefully, it is attached properly to this msg). The plate does not look like any of the others that I've seen (on-line). Thanks, anak77

  2. Can't imagine anyone would go thru the trouble of making one nameplate then roughing it up just to sell a shear. Has to be the real thing.

  7. Bummer, but cash in hand beats "I want to come look at it" every single time.

Yes, you are correct. Lesson Learned. The guy was in a hurry to leave when I called, otherwise I would have met him right away.... Hopefully, I'll get another chance to purchase one.

  9. In this economy, tools are coming up cheap and often, the chance will come up again.

Don't tell me they started outsourcing to China too!!!

I think it costs about that much to replace the blades in a Beverly.

It's not a Beverly shear then. It's a "throatless shear".

As I have been told by YOU GUYS in this forum, The Beverly Shear is THE throatless shear and the "other" one is the GUTLESS shear. Thanks for all of your support and by the way, WE DO NOT OUTSOURCE ANYTHING TO CHINA!

I forgot to mention in my original post that the guy was selling it for $200.

My friend found a used one for $95 and it cost $80 for shipping... I think it is a B2. I'll post a photo if any one is interested in what my friend ends up with...

Can anyone recognize the markings in the attached photos of those belonging to a Beverly Shear?

    Thanks......

Bought my b-1 out of the "bargain corner" in the paper, for $ 75. Seller told me I was the first person that knew what it was.
