Heres the question. How well does a '31 Tudor fit on a '34 coupe frame? I'm planning a 392 with a setback, custom firewall and the rear sub rails are already cut out to fit a '32 kick up. Anybody have pics of swap like this? Thanks in advance
i just so happen to have both frames outside my shop door, as you can see the 33/34 frame is much larger, what you can't see is that the model-a frame is dead flat on the top where the 33/34 frames is all swoopy, i think anything can be done, model-a frames are easy to come by, a good 33/34 frame would be worth $1000 around here anyway, a good model-a frame might bring $300.
the pic is slightly mis-leading. They should both line up at the rear axle to see how much 'fitting' needs to be done. It would be some work, but not as much as youwould think. If you need an 'A' frame, there are plenty out there. I have on sitting in my barn with no dody attached. r
Thanks Budd! Im thinkin early 60s Gasser style but cant find any pics of a 30-31 Model A tudor on a 33-34 frame. Anybody know if the 34 is wider or narrower than a 32 at the firewall?
Go here for dimensional drawings of both frames and you can compare them. http://www.wescottsauto.com/Tech/frame_specs.html
Actually, I read that it was a 35-40 frame, which is even larger.Either way, proves that it can be done in a civilized manner.
That is not a 34 Ford frame. Look at the frame horns. Looks more like a 32. If you have a decent original 34 frame, sell it, buy some new 32 rails, and you'll probably even still have a little cash left over. Plus it'll look a ton better.
