We have a 390 in ours as well. Had a 3 on the tree and we converted it to a c6 using the stock column shifter! Fast car for only having a stock 2 bbl carb motor.

  6. Yes I always wonder why you don't see hardly any '57 Fords when they outsold Chevy in 1957 . It never made sense to me.

I had a 57 todor post that I bought from a guy near 51st Ave and Indian School. That was in 1979. It had been sitting in his driveway since '66 or so when his son went and got killed in Vietnam. I used to drive by it everyday on my way to work at Luke AFB. I got the feeling the only reason he sold it to me was because I was in the military. We put air in the tires, a new battery and that old 312 fired right up. Drove hell out of it for years. The old guy always seemed to be in his front yard from then on when I went to work. I didn't understand then but I do now.

I've always loved the '57 Ford myself, but I would have never guessed that...

  11. I had one for several years it was a ex drag car it was my wifes car.A few months ago someone called my bluff on the price and I could not say no.

  12. your buckets arent factory 58's to me kinda look like late 60's (chevelle, impala or something) they are pre 68 though because they arent high backs and they have no headrests

    headrests became mandatory in 68

IMHO, the '58 Custom 300 was one of the cleanest cars Ford offered during that era. I never saw one factory-equipped with an FE. Most were sick-six, a few 2-bbl Y-blocks.

Wish I had a photo of the NASCAR Modified with a 427" built and raced by Red Farmer at Birmingham International Raceway in 1963.

I think the FE 332 came out mid year or end year in 58 so most were sixs and Y just in case you were wonderin'

I was told by the original owners grandson, that the car came with a 352, but the old man swapped it out to a 390 in the 70's.

Don't have one... wish I did. I like the 300 better than the Bel Air. It's a bonus that there seems to be fewer of them on the road.

My dad had a two tone green '58 Custom 300 two door with a 332 in 63. It had interceptor on the glove box door. Then in 66 we had a 58 fairlane 4dr with a 332.
