Never knew the Rod Shop had a car like that one. What is that; an old Pontiac? Who drove it?

That's a 1958 Poncho. I don't know who wheeled it, maybe Moose will chime in.

Yes its a Pontiac, in the early days Rod Shop was just a speed shop to get parts and machine work so any car could have had their decals.

The diggers are coming. I'm trying to post in the order they are scanned so I don't miss anything. I am skipping the kinda O/T cars, etc until the end of the thread.
Let's start out with the turtle deck altered of Max Marion

Stickel & Riffle Anglia and an odd, modified early 'Vette. I think that the nose on the 'Vette is a kit that was offered. (Maybe we covered this earlier in this thread. It's been so long since I started this that I don't remember every post)

Ya know, as I look real close at the car in the previous thread, I'm not certain it even started out as a Corvette

Notice how close the lanes are to the track - if you walk behind the small bleachers at NTR you can still find some of the original lane makings in what is now pit area.

Wow thanks "Lancer" thanks for all the postings. Your photos are proof of how talent rich that neck of the woods was. I admire your taste in focusing on the comp eliminator type cars.

here is another picture of that car.It was Gordon Matney, he won Street Eliminator at the Bluegrass NHRA Division 3 meet in 1967.
    And, another odd one.

Ah, the days before every bracket racer insists he can't get down the track without it being glued. Odd combo - 348/409? w/ a blower

  22. I think it was "Tignanelli" but I couldn't begin to guess the pronunciation. These were always gorgeous cars, equally as nice as the Rod Shop's or any other team's cars. I think I recall seeing them at Indy in the early to mid 70's with a car hauler semi rig with maybe three of these beauties strapped on it. Pretty impessive looking, sitting in the west side sportsman pits!

This is also a great shot of how well the Mopar rear suspension worked on these cars. If the rear axle was pushed any harder into the ground it would start throwing sparks!

Great shoots!! This was when drag racing was fun. Just like drugs, I'm having a flash black.

Any photos of Francis Crider's C/Dragster? He also dropped a body over the rear wheels and ran as A/Comp or B/Comp or something of that sort.

Not sure about the Crider digger. It's tough to tell because I can't read the driver's name on most of the pics I have. I am going to start posting diggers after I get through the door cars. Keep checking back!

A bit O/T, but ya gotta admit that a shot of Grumpy racing WJ has a bit of history attached to it.
This pretty much completes the on-topic door cars and roadsters. My plan is to get into the diggers next, and then some slightly off-topic shots I think you'll find interesting.

Injected digger. I think it's interesting that in the lanes are two GTOs and a Fairlane GT and none of them have aftermarket wheels.
