This was taken at the April 2010 ECTA Meet at the Laurinburg-Maxton Airport.
The blue 61 Champ pickup is mine. It has an R1 Avanti V8 backed by a T86 w/overdrive. The three coupes in the middle all competed that weekend. The yellow coupe is powered by an LS1 engine from a 2008 GTO. The owner drives it down from Ontario, pulling a small trailer with the parts needed to transform the car into a race car. The black coupe in the middle is powered by an early Hemi. The third coupe is powered by a 350 SBC. All three of the coupes bested the 160 mile per hour mark that weekend. The '63 Lark on the right belongs to a friend who came down to spectate that weekend. It is running a Studebaker 259 V8 with a T86 tranny.

Here's a pic of my buddy's stock '55 Speedster. He's a great guy, even though he's a <GASP!>"Restorer". BTW, that's not his house in the background.

I have a full set of '55 side stainless if anyone is interested...$50 plus shipping...PM me if you are.

And, yes, I posted a pic of my Studey on the first page...FWIW, I had a bullet nosed Starlite coop in high school...way back in 1960...those were very uncool cars then...!!!

Well, here's my very mild little kustom '50 coupe as seen at Billet Proof CA a couple of years ago. Had 'er for over 20 years now.

  23. They may have been uncool when I was in highschool also. Called them Stupid bakers. But I did own a '57 Silver Hawk and a '51 truck back then.

I guess that would have made me a stupid rodder?

LOL PnB...all my friends (ok, both of them) called mine that too...but they never bitched when it was the only wheels we had...!!!

My Dad insisted I buy the car, said I couldn't "get killed in it cuz it wouldn't go fast enuff." Little did he know...!!!

  30. Hell Rog you could have killed yoursellf on a Schwin. Way I see it we're both lucky to be old enough to know each other.

Hey a couple of my buddies caused me to make some progress on mine.

Thanks to the Shcoolster and the Raven we have the engine sitting just about where it goes. Now to build some mounts and a firewall around it.
