Figured I'd start a new thread of my '59 build. It's not going to be anything crazy, just a nice lowered driver..I'm sure all the fridge boys will like watching the progress of another 57-60 resto-mod. So here it is..
1959 f100, all original, bone stock, 223ci 6cyl, 3 on the tree, short bed, small window. The truck was built at the old milpitas/san jose plant.
Here is a pic of when i brought her home,

Here are some pics of it, with bumpers and other items removed.
I also picked up some Firestone bias ply rubber, 7.10's in the rear, 7.0's up front. stock 15" steelies, My dad sandblasted and painted them one at a time at work..

If you have a donor cab, it would be the perfect time to lower the top a little.

  19. Good start except for the roof. Do you have a doner cab yet? Someday you will need a Y-Block in it you know. :D

im sure you can because the 57-60 front axle will lower a stock 56 one inch.
you might have to widen the holes out for the 57-60 leafs but i think thats about it.

    '53-'56 axles WILL interchange w/ '57-'64 axles.
    same frame widths,
    same spring widths.
spindles ARE different though, king pin diameters are the same, but the method of attaching the steering arms ARE different.
'53-'56 arms bolt thru the spindle w/ 1 large bolt/nut.
'57-'64 arms bolt to the spindle with the brake backing plate bolts.
I actually have a '57 - up axle under my '56 panel, with later twin I beam spindles
(again same KP dia) so I could have LARGE drum brakes; but the pin bosses are further apart so you need a spacer between the axle & the spindle pin boss.
I can post pix, if you need.

Thanks Bob, that's useful info, Don't think I'll be pickin up that 56 axle. I'll probably just go with a More-drop axle before he shuts his doors for good, since He's local

Got another WW on.. I know i had said it was 7.0's in the front, but I forgot that they're really 6.70's..They're kind of small lookin up front. But once I get it lowered it should look good, right? opinions?
