Years ago a mate & I were out driving around & we spotted a 6 pack of beers on the footpath. We stopped and found it was 6 ice cold Coopers Sparkling Ales. Near it was a paper bag containing a Whopper, fries and onion rings. The food was hot & the beers were cold. We took the lot. When we drove off some dude came out from behind the bushes and started chasing us. We figured he must have been in there taking a p*ss.

I've found an air hammer, some porn when I was a kid... a 5 inch strap about 30-40 feet long. Once I found a bike! That was a very good thing, since it fell from the back of MY truck  My buddy didn't make sure the tailgate latched when he shut it. Its ok. It was HIS bike :p

We had a guy call the firehouse to see if we lost some hose once. We wondered why the new truck came w/o 500 ft. of 5 inch hose.

  8. I'm a bit of a magpie - I always check it out when there's "clean up week" over here.

I've picked up enough steel for a chassis table, a couple of 50's fridges, cast iron fireplace inserts, 50's doors, a cool 60's bar with a fish panel which now resides in the bathroom window, other free doors, 30's lino, a 60's steering column, 30's Ford chassis parts & brake & clutch pedal assembly. There were also 2, 30's truck gearboxes but I couldn't lift them so they stayed where they sat. Old petrol tanks, Garage shelving & outside cool 50's garden furniture. And fortunately - no fingers.

Lots of garbage here in Pa on the back roads,I did find a 98 piece Craftsman tool kit,a couple of tape measures, and a Maglite.Used to help my grandpa clean up along his road and found lots of unopened beer cans and bottles. It was an old stone road and was a hot spot for underage drinking till headlights would come down the road and everyone would dump the beer and scatter.Did find one of those tow behind log splitters that someone stole and dumped over the bank.Cops came and got that.Hope it made it ways back to who owned it,but doubt it.

My 50s fiberglas finned powerboat, no engine, sat across the street from me for a week with two flat tires on the trailer. Finally I took the two flats off and fixed them and hauled the boat up my driveway where you could see it from the street..no one has claimed it so far..

  13. My buddy and I were heading to a car show when we saw something on the side of the highway. Was that what i think it was I asked? "Yes that is part of a tow truck stinger lift and they are worth $1500.00 my buddy said!" should we go back? Those are worth $1500.00! So...we ended up backing up 2 miles and picked it up since he worked for a towing company. He gave it to his boss for a spare. Fast forward a year and I am out on a test drive and you guessed it....I found another one! I took it back to the shop and one of the tow truck companies drivers was there. You guys missing a stinger end I asked. The guy phoned his boss and sure enough they had lost one. I gave him the part they had lost. Turned out it was the same stinger end that I had found a year earlier! Lost and found, lost and found.....

Somebody at that towing company needs to learn the magic of lockwashers.

  15. One of those hand operated extended pole saws bounced off a PSE&G truck that I picked up once. Loaned it out and never got it back.

I was on my way to a swap meet last fall, and saw a black fiberglass 55 chevy fender laying along side the road that someone had stopped to pick up. He was driving a VW Jetta, and trying to cram it into the back seat, so I knew it wasn't his. I get to the swap, and as I'm wandering through, I see the mate to the fender in a swap space. I ask the guy if he has the other side. "Well, I did, until it fell off the trailer on the way here." I told him I saw a guy sticking it into the back of his car just outside of town. He gets kind of a bummed look on his face..."well that just sucks!"

  19. About one of everything.

My latest find is an old Plymouth hub cap I'm going to guess early to mid fifties.

I found a poloroid of a young fella that was about as happy as you can get once when I stopped to take a leak. Just looked down and there it was, P__s on it. It took me forever to get that image out of my head. I'm still real glad that was a road trip, I could never have looked at that guy with a straight face.

I found a .22 Ruger rifle on the shoulder of the road. It was about 8:30 in the morning and probably 100 or so people had driven by it before me.

  24. I'm surprised you could remember where you found it.
I like to walk up ski mountains in the early summer under the chairlift and find all the stuff people drop off the chair. Cell phones and thick ski gloves don't mix, there must be a million cell phones scattered under chairlifts across north america. Dozens of cans of beer too.

When I was doing Surveying for a living I found a battery powered rubber Penis in the ditch. I didn't want to touch it, but I kicked it across the street into the yard where a Labrador was glad to play with it. Still can't imagine the reaction of the dog owner to that one.:D

many moons ago I found a little purse looking thing outside of a liquor store. I picked it up and opened it in my car. it was someones kit for shooting heroin. as I drove away I tossed it out the window.

about a year later I was cleaning out my car and found the heroin under my seat. this was when I was in my early 20's, so getting pulled over and hassled by the cops was a regular occurance. one dickhead even searched my car in that time.

I think heroin possesion is a felony. ?? how messed up would that have been.

one of my favorite ratchets is a cornwall (?) that I found about 15 years ago.

one time I thought I saw a purse in the road. I went back to look and it was a skunk.

the best one has to be a brand new Carhart Jacket. these are nice heavy duty work wear and cost around 60 - 70 bucks for those who don't know, and the one I had was getting pretty worn out. picked it up and looked in the pocket and there was a big fat joint, as well as a pipe with what looked to be one hit taken from it.

  28. That reminds me, was riding with my buddy in his rollback once either going to get or coming back with some car and he takes the back way and I spotted the tongue for a hitch reciever laying next to the road - a good one, I can't remember now if it was the one with three different size balls on it or the one that takes the ring style hitch, but I went back and got it because I knew the damned things aren't cheap. He still uses it so far as I know -

Found this rust free Arizona '62 Pontiac long roof a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't fit it in my carry on though so it's still up for grabs.
