I have heard about this restoration for some time.. but had not seen any photos untill I found them on the ruffrodders site today. It seams that these guy have more custom stuff going on then the HAMB has had for the last couple of month!!!

In any event... on to the photos...
The Barris built Tom Hocker 1940 Ford Coupe... now owned by Ed Hegarty (who also owns the Westergard/Bertolucci built Buddy Ohanesian 1940 Mercury) who is having the car completely restored.

Some of how it used to be... two headlights at first

    New paint...

    And later with quad headlights...

And again a bit later and a new paint job.. and a movie roll!!!

Luckily Ed will have it restored back to how it looked with the quad headlights and with the blue paint...

How it looks now (photos by Ruin)

I admit, it looks a bit strange so high and with no runningboards... but it will all be fine in the end

Thanks, Rik, you come through again, as always.

I never realized that this was the '40 Ford in American Grafitti...glad it is getting restored back to the pre-Grafitti days.

Personally I like the original version with the single headlights but if its going back to when it was blue its alot better then when it was white and purple.

I agree with Jeff. The stock nose would look better, but the quads will do.

Was it American Grafitti or Hollywood Knights? Seem to recall a wild 40 Ford at the end of Hollywood Knights, but it's been years. Either way, glad it's not being taken back to THAT version :)

The quad head lights killed it for me.would like to see it restored as barris first had it.

I like the two headlight version better also but I understand not wanting to change the way it is also.

I'm hoping the side grill gets filled as it was from the Barris shop. I don't mind the quads but they seemed to work best with the grill partially filled. Please fill the grill.

the car is historic, and i love it and those guys are from my home town , westergard and bert, but those quad headlights are god awful!! but in all truth it's good to see the car out of the wood work!

Here's a scan of a pic I took of it at the Oakland show in 1972. Not a very good pic, but all I've got.

  25. I was wondering what happened to this car. It's good to hear Ed has it. I like the quad headlights. My Dad showed his 40 Chevy the same time this car was being shown at Oakland. I never liked it white, but I dig the blue. Dean
