Rita, Rita, drinkin' *** by the Liter... Ain't nothin' but a Misdemeanor. ;)

Good news to hear about the track drying out, and minimal damage.

No worries about the 22 bullets, the Magnesium, or the car keys left in the BSM camp fire. The water didn't get that high. guarantee..

Email from my daughter who lives outside of Bowling Green:

"Beech Bend was finally in our news, they had to cancel the Buick nationals, they plan to be closed for several weeks, over 1/2 of their 375 acres was under water."

It's a beautiful day in SOKY, so I thought that I'd drive over to Beech Bend at lunch and snap a few pics....

    The track looks great.

The campground was hit pretty hard.

The main bath house was swept away. That's it about three hundred yards away.

One of the biggest problems is that every fence on the property is bent over.

Thanks for the pics. Amazing it looks as good as it does. I drove through Bell Rd and I-24 just south of Nashville Monday morning, that's where the house floated down the interstate over the weekend. It looked like nothing ever happened.

    I believe that it did.

It was above the tree roots in this pic, and level with the bottom of the fence.

A row of porta potties in 100 degree heat doesn't sound any better. At least what was there was air conditioned (the only building that is) and had running water.
...I guess you could still use those toilets...

  26. Probably shouldn't say this, but these aren't the type of people that sit on their butt waiting for the government. May better times return.

  27. Truth.
We had tornados here a couple of years ago.....death and destruction 5 miles from my house:( fema was pretty f'in useless then....we ain't about to wait around for somebody to pat us on the back and ask us to fill out forms in triplicate and wait for assistance....
I only lost one storage bldg full of parts to ten feet of water. Next door to my storage unit, my doctor lost his 67 Chevelle, sans body(it was at another location)....all new interior, new 396, Detroit Speed suspension, big brakes, his tools, supplies, parts.... We both feel lucky. Folks lost homes and businesses to the flood, and may never completely recover..... but you won't see us on CNN cryin' for help.

I would hope anyone that is close would roll out there for the HRR to support that place. There's a ton of work and money needed to be ready for the HRR. Good luck I hear the HRR is a great event.

Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See you guys in June!!!

  30. We used to camp in the campground and had the pleasure of using those "washrooms" on a regular bases..

we finally decided to book into an air condition motel instead.

Yes,we will be back to support this event..have been since the beginning.
