    Both classic dirt cars!
Who are the drivers? The #52 looks like one of Jakes cars, Vargo, i mean.

The #52 is the Vargo car with Carl Williams, who finished 5th in the first race at Nazareth. Larry Dickson finished 6th in the Brenn car. Al Unser got his first win that night.

.....'Since there's probably no one else up right now, I just wanted to come by, give a big pat-on-the-back and say, "Thank you, Al Consoli!" So colorful, so brilliant and so crystal -clear are your pictures. I'm glad that I didn't chime in on the classic pic of Larry Dickson and Carl Williams at Nazareth, 1968. I was going to guess, Nazareth 1969, which would have put Wally D. in Ken Brenn's and Bob Harkey in the #52 car. 'Either way, both cars are so classic looking and both were built by Wally Meskowski. That picture and others like it, need to be passed on down through the ages so those who weren't lucky enough to witness them in person, can still enjoy the real beauty that they exuded.

    Amen to that!
Is the 52 the former Econo-Car #1? I ask because it's the only Wally car I've seen with a little scoop on the hood like that.
Something about the the way that car looked just said Champ Car to me.
Especially the pictures of Bobby Marshman way up on the cushion.

I think the Vargo car was originally the Bill Forbes car. Marshman's Econo-Car was a Kuzma.

The Econo-Car #5 (1963) is a Meskowski bodied by Kuzma. Wallens books have some mistakes in the stats.

Check the yellow car on #10752. This is Hopkins Meskowski when Don Conrad owned it. Don bought it from Lee Elkins son Brian. Lee bought it from Jack Beckly ( Hopkins).I got it from Don in 1984.

.....'Hey hopkins1, 'Thanks for the great insight. But, could you clue us in on the details of your yellow #18 car in #10752? It looks like it's got Grant King written all over it; with what looks like a Grant King cage and nose/grill. And yet underneath it's a Meskowski chassis???

Does anyone know what kind of car the all white car is in this photo? Thanks...........John S.

  23. Anybody have any idea who the drivers in these two photos might be? They are from a sprint car race held at Toronto's CNE, June 20, 1958.

The box score includes names like:
    Cotton Farmer
    Curly Boyd
    Burt Brooks
    Tom McCellan
    Bud Renner
    Toby Tokias (Tobias?)
    Johnny White
    Ron Duman
    Jack Caswell
    Pete Folse
    Earl Haliquist
    Leon Clum

The race was sanctioned by the All American Racing Club.

Thanks for any help. (Sorry the size isn't bigger. These were sent to me this way.)

Can't tell who the driver is, but the #37 car is the Hoy Stevens 12 port Jimmy.

Spike is right, that is Bob Wilkey in Werglands Ron Ward car that Arnie Knepper had success with in USAC. Lou Johnson is in Cal Krusens CAE car.
