Unless there is a blonde bombshell in the backseat there is nothing beautiful about that car, heck the cragers on the car next to it catch your eye more than the whole car.

In Rockford IL there used to be a great show in a trailer park. Not sure if they still have it or not though.

That's Tom Gerdes Graham 97 combination coupe which was built back in the 1990s. it used to be all one color until the top half was painted copper.

The French have an expression for it - usually about women 'jolie-laide' which translates to ugly but beautiful.

Too Good-Guys Street Rod-ish for my taste. I really hate seeing old cars with the giant rims. Nothing looks worse IMO. But, it is not my car so I hope who ever owns it enjoys it. Not my style though....

If it weren't for the gay wheels and mirrors I'd say that Graham is awesome. What's ugly about it?

I gotta appreciate the rare-ness of the Graham, but rarities aside, those front ends are UG-LEE!

Of course Willys tried their hand at that sort of thing, and they had less bulk to play with than Graham had:

Size usually makes any hare-brained styling concept easier to pull off.

I like these weird things, though.

For me, these come to mind:
    Bathtub Nash. Bulbous but cool!
Daimler SP250. Awkward and weird but cool! (not to mention the hemi engine...inside beauty!)
Stude Hawk. Tacked on fins, big nose, but totally cool!
Nash station wagon. The picture says it all!

  23. Was this the Troll found in the US that went back to Europe or another find? I almost bought it at the time but couldn't hook up with the seller. I thought there was only 5 made so is this another one of them?

  24. I think it would be safe to say that these Tatras have a certain "love 'em or hate 'em" vibe going on.

Very strange that certain models can look so graceful from one angle and so clumsy from another.

This one is pretty ugly, but I'm strangely fascinated.

The development of the Tatra T97 was in the same era as the VW beetle, rear aircooled engine, ''aerodinamic'' design... Even Ferdinand Porsche had a little hand in it (if I remember correctly).
It was a smaller car than the T87 (like the pics above, with 3 headlights), but looked somewhat the same.

Love the windshields on the T87.

T97 (if only VW bugs looked like this :D ):

I used to think these cars were so ugly when I was a kid in the 70's. Why? Because I was stupid kid obviously. But man, as the years go by, they have grown on me like.......well..... stink on shit. But I'm thinking one of these will be my next project! Love 'em now.
