A stock 410 in 1966 puts out 330 hp and 444 ft. lbs. torque.

Just my $0.02, but I don't know how this could look "kinda funny" in anything.

My biggest gripe with the 460 is the valve covers. This helps a lot. Does your friend make the SBF to FE adapters too?

    It SURE AS HELL does!
I think I'm going to do this for the drag truck motor...looks way better than the other stuff going...

  5. A few shots of the adapters after I polished them (They don't come that way :D). I may be able to get him to come down on the pricing some if he's making a few sets at once.

PS - Heres a shot of a "factory" 2x4 intake I just sold that fit the standard 429-460 eniges. The Blue Thunder versions will work on both the standard port and the SCJ.

    Hey MEMPHIS RAT. Did ya have a typo? 400 isn't a 385. It's a Cleveland head engine. 385's are 370-429-460.

Stock, they're dogs after 1970, but it doesn't take much to wake them up - set the timing straight up. Low oil pressure is common to these, but they'll run forever that way.

The 400 is a 335 series btw, but you can find tons of info on them at this link

I love 'em - orphan engines that nobody wants - course I play with flathead V8's too

you guys sure know alot about the 460. i just put one in my 57 lincoln. the motor is a 78 out of a f150. i put edelbroke intake with a holley carb on it. mallory dist and painted edelbroke valve covers. i sold the headers it came with. does anyone know if older 429-460 exhaust manifolds should fit mine? im looking at a set for a 69-71 429. will these work?

Yes the early manifolds will fit the ports on the heads. Most interchange. Trouble matching up will be with the later FI heads.

I wonder if you could disguise a 460 as a 390 by changing the valve covers?

The 410 will only need a flywheel only the Cobra jet 428 used a balance weight in front that was actually behind the balancer.

Sorry, don't quite agree with you on that.

Blue Thunder made two types of intakes - standard and SCJ/CJ
With a little head work with a dremel, you can put a SJC/CJ intake on the regular heads but you can't put a standard intake on SCJ heads, whose ports are much bigger.

Blue Thunder stuff is getting hard to find, and expensive.

Here's a pic of a Blue Thunder intake and Blue Thunder polished ribbed valve
    covers on a 429:
