Wow, great story. Thanks for sharing.

Did you happen to ask if they'd still cast a few up even today? I'd be interested.

I'm just glad he held on to it and that I know the story! He also saved the original dash out of his A-V8 with a Chris-Craft panel and full compliment of '30s curved glass S&Ws :D

I believe they still do on request as a special order intake, or at least they did last time I was there. I think they liked to wait until they had a few requests before they would cast up a run of them to fill those requests.

Heres a couple of the high rise intakes. I just picked up the Thickstun pre war 2x2 intake. Does anybody know what that intake was called. You know you have like the PM-7's, what about this one?

The early Thickstun should have a number stamped in the flat lower part. Mine does, does yours? And too bad about the blob ruining the logo.

You are lucky the Tattersfield has a little bit of the original blue hammertone paint on it. DO NOT remove it.

Yes, there is a number! Its stamped f-1214 and the Tattersfield is stamped T-6410. Whats number is stamped in your Thickstun? Yeah I know, I wish that wasnt there on the name, I looked and ya its just a faw in the casting. I guess its interesting?

That Tattersfield is staying as is and will never get touched. Its going on my 3 window right after I get it back from the painters. You can see the Hammertone blus all around the intake. Wish it had more!

I have been studying the Thickstun and the Tattersfield side by side and came up with some interesting defferences between the 2. Since the Tattersfield is similar to the PM-7, I thought the 2 would be the same but no way! The high rise portions of the intake is about an inch taller on the Thickstun. The risers in the Tattersfield is further back on the intake then the Thickstun. Also the risers are closer together on the Thickstun, about a 1/2" closer too. The Tattersfield air cleaner wont even come close to fitting. Heres some pictures of what I am talking about.

Duane, I hope these pictures can answer the question.
