Kelly Brown. He raced a plethora of drag cars and was active on the local SCCA circuit. He was a Hollywood Stunt Driver too.

  11. Saturday morning tune up run. That's "Wild" Rose Ggenuso in Tom's roadster.

Does this looked Photoshopped, or is it just me?

Looks real to me. FEDs did that easily and often in those days.

That photo has been around for 45 years looking just like that.
A somewhat wide angle lens makes the car slightly distorted, but that photo is real.
And Skip, this photo, no doubt, was taken at the split-second when the driver got out of it because of the wheelstand, but there still was power to the wheels. As you know, there's a fraction of a second that a photo like this with the butterflies almost closed is possible.
Thats at Lions in about 1965-66...the pinnacle of drag racing

He might be in the process of letting off a tad to bring the front wheels down. Could explain why they are part-throttle like that. "Driving through" the wheelie, if you will.

    Edit: What Doug said.

  23. TJ, you need to get or borrow the 3 disc Lions dragstrip DVD set. Wheelstands were quite common there.
    HG

  24. That's MickeyThompson's twin Pintiac which Jack Chrisman took on tour in '62. I have 2 shots I took of it at York US30.

  25. That's "Stormin" Norman Weekly at Pomona. The frantic Four car left like that more often that not, and Norman never lifted. The Chevy pst truck in the back ground is the one they use today at cacklefests.
