I was at the local Chevy dealership the day the new '63's were unveiled. they had a Fuel injected black coupe on display. I couldn't stop walking around it vowing to one day own one. Well, that "one day" was a long time coming, 1978 to be exact. Instead of the '63 I ended up with a '67 427, 435 hp coupe. It was owned by a friend of mine and he was in the process of reconditioning it. After loosing interest I bought it, finished the rebuild and proceeded to unleash 12 years of pent up C2 lust. The car was one of my favorites of the 200+ that I've owned over the last 50 years. My wife had to sell it to pay mounting medical bills from my 1988 accident that almost had me taking an early dirt nap. The escalating price of the mid-year Vettes will undoubtedly prevent me from owning another, but at least I lived the dream for just under 8 years. Frank
Trust me, I tried for years to offer my help to get it back on the road but the timing was never right. I'm just glad to see it back on the road now while he can still clutch it despite his debilitating MS. Last summer his son -- the same one that worked on the Vette -- got his 34 Tudor running and driving again after having sat for nearly as long. I hope to have pics of that car soon . . . 30 coats of hand rubbed black lacquer by Jon Kosmoski himself, steelies & wide whites with 50 Merc caps, 5" dropped axle, stock flatty & toploader . . .
Beautiful car scratches and all! It's a survivor, just tell him to drive the crap out of it and enjoy it.
It has the 340 horsepower 327 as it has a 4 barrel carb, high lift cam, mechanical lifters and a 6000 rpm redline on the tachometer.
there's no way i would touch the exterior or interior of that car one bit. fine example of an old vette. let's see some pics of the 34. later dudes chuck
and by the way, there is a radio in there...look again...it's the sideways mount type. at least it looks like it to me. later dudes chuck
Cool, guess I didn't know they were working on that car and I missed out on this thread til now. That's great for your uncle, I'm sure he's really excited! It looks good now, maybe just buff it out? Isn't there there a special class at the big Corvette shows for just survivor cars? Man after hearing about this for years I really can't wait to see this!
very very nice!!! If that is original paint,a repaint will knock $10,000 + of the resale value of the car!you cannot hide anything under original paint.
Great story, as well as great car!!! Nice to see family respect still pops up once in a while over cars like this. Cheers, Bob
