400 (Lincoln) in the F100 - (excuse the sbc powered Willys )

 

My 29 coupe that i been on and off doin for the last five years, getting ready to fire it up this week! The frame is 6" over and has a 4" recessed firewall and the blower pulley is 3/4" away from the rad! Trans is a 69 big input Toploader with a Jeep t176 top shifter and rear is a 8.8 out of and explorer, 4:10's 31 spline and a trac-loc. Should spin them hurst's pretty well!

The Blue Thunder has a larger universal casting where it meets the head and they just open up the port for the SCJ heads. Mine was cast the same as a standard port factory intake, when the intake was on the engine there was actually a 1/8 inch gap between the top of the intake port flange and the roof of the intake runner, you could still see right into the port .

It's a destroked 300 (272ci) Ford truck engine, makes around 420HP, has gone the best of 10.96 @ 120mph in the 1/4....

Here's my SLOW-89, Comp cam, Cobra dual plane intake, Edelbrock carb, hooked up to a Top Loader..

 

Working on restoring it back to its original configuration as it was in 1976/77. Built by Gapp & Roush. Took these pics just this week after finishing installing new master cylinder, new 5 lug rotors, calipers, hoses, etc. Along, with finally getting the restored wheels and new tires on!

 

Is that "Sudden Death" that Baskerville wrote about in Hot Rod?

 

The exact car...found it a few months ago and am restoring it back to its appearance in the "Sudden Death" article Baskerville wrote for the April '77 Issue of Hot Rod mag.

 

Benn following your progress on another forum too. That car is awesome! I am so glad you are keeping it "as built". I only read one article and finally saw the others in your posts. That car made a long lasting impression on me! So cool, dude! Thanks.

 

Shouldn't have that problem with guys on here! If that is so, there are forums for each Ford engine family. Windsors, 335s, FEs, 385s, MEL, Y-block, flatheads are all covered with great advice from experienced people.
Hell, even I know a little about the '60s-'80s stuff!

 

Good to meet you! Thanks for the comments. My plan is to put the car back as exact as I can to how it was done in 1976/77 in the article everyone remembers it from. I have made a couple of minor changes so far in the name of safety, using the stainless fuel lines/AN fittings under the car. Originally, they used all rubber hose and worm clamps from tank to carb.

I also swapped the front wheels to 5 lug, only because I can't get the right tires to fit the 13" wheels any more. I contact both Kelsey Tire and Coker Tire. Both told me they have no molds any more and don't plan on making them. I told them both, "too bad, since there are dozens of models of cars being restored today from the early 60's thru the 70's that use them".

BTW...I like that 57 Ford you're running! What are you running for power?

The changes you have made, I would have made too. Safety is a valid concern and I think the 5 bolt wheels, matching the rears, looks right anyway. Should have been that way when it was built. It looks good with either color, but I hope you put her back to the silver (or was it painted during the turbo version?). Be following ya!
