Projects '36 Coupe - This is killing me!

Thought some of you guys would appreciate this:

Saw this today. Looks like a '36 coupe body on a trailer, but it was - um - a tad rough and somewhat twisted, to say the least.

The guy driving the truck was standing near by, so I stopped and asked him if the body was for sale. He told me it was a load of junk he was moving for his son from one property to another, but that he was sure he'd sell it.

Major mixed emotions here - there is not a panel on this thing that isn't totally peppered with bird shot and .22 holes. The entire body is twanked out of shape. The good? Its appears to me mostly rust free, has both doors . . . and its for sale! But what a project!

The saddest part is - as usual - I am broke. So even though I don't even know what the guy is asking for it yet, I am doing the "what could I sell quick" thing in my mind . . .

That would make a great stock car clone.

Not a '33 / '34. It's a '35 or '36 with the optional venting holes. Looks like the old cars I used to find out in the Mojave when I was a kid.

About a week with a hammer and dolly, a copper backing plate and a mig welder those holes would be gone. How much is he asking for it?

I'd get it if it was cheap enough. By the time you got done filling in them bullet holes you would be a metal working master :)

    Thats a 35/36, not 33/34.

Check out Hot Rod Ron (here on the Hamb). He's got a 32 5 window that is/was rittled with bullet holes. He's making progress on it. He's also got a 35 5w that was pulled from a ravine that he's converting to a 3w.

    But it.

Yeah, you guys are right. Thanks for straightening me out on the year. And Fogger, this one is from the Mojave, so you nailed it. Not so common anymore, though.

When we were kids there was a '42 mordor Ford in a gully that we did that to. We knew '42's were rare even in the mid '60's but we didn't care. That said, if it had been a '36 we'd of been draggin it home.

That body is well within the "Savable" category. Bullet holes area a challenge but a lot easier to deal with than rotten sheet metal.

It looks like some of those bullet holes came from some shooting from the inside (see the second pic above the door).

Those are the ones that came through all the way from the other side (one bullet/2,3,4 holes depending on how it traveled through the car.
