I've been looking for a pic of that car. I have a different pic of it but I can't find it. There's a rumor that he ran it once sponsored by a ford dealer.

  10. Don Sargent ran that GTO on fuel at times, alky others. The car was originally the Leader Automotive GTO that Ed Lee drove.Unless someone has a photo,I'll post one when I get home. Dennis Doubleday

  11. He ran it one time, at Indy where this photo was taken. He DNQ and the car I believe went to John Lingenfelter. I'm pretty sure there was an issue with the balancer/timing causing it not to run the number.

Bob Glidden was getting tired of NHRA hanging weight on his Fords so the Chevy Monza had a better weight break (lighter) so he built this car (Monza) for Indy. I don't think he qualified the car (#17 in a 16 car feild) and sold it after the race to the late great John Ligenfelter who ran the car in Comp in B/EA and did pretty good with it.

I had to do a double take when I first saw that pic. But I suppose since it didn't qualify the one and only time it was run by Glidden, I suppose that would help explain why I don't remember it. :) Thanks for the info!

Yes they were running a C/A Mustang when the Lori John fiasco occurred. I recall dad Ken Van Cleve's Weslake Gurney C/D showing up at 69 HRM and winning the whole thing in comp elim

Quick call Wally Parks and have this guy expelled for un gentleman like demeanor. Trailer says..BB/GD, must be late 60's, maybe 1970-71 as the class was dumped after that

    what happened with Lori Johns?

  24. Ken Van Cleave was another racer from Salem, Oregon. Jim Van Cleve and dad (Sr.) ran out of Morton, Washington where Jim Jr. still owns a Ford Dealership. Note, last name's were spelled slightly different.
