Getting a set of very low mile wide whites from a friend, but they've been exposed enough to show rust stains coming from the edge of the rim. Any secrets to getting rid of the stains? Thanks!
Yep, always had good luck with bleach white. Maybe a light rubbing with laquer thinner would work also, but I do mean a LIGHT rubbing with it.
I agree with the bleach white. I also used to have very good success with powdered Comet and a stiff scrub brush. That would always turn any white letter or whitewall crazy white again for me. Put some Comet on the brush and wet it down a little. Wet the sidewall down with a hose and then scrub away. Let is soak for about 30 seconds or so and then hit it with a high pressure hose. Move the hose slowly and let it work, rather than just spray randomly from a distance. Get it right down close and blast away. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

I have had good luck with it.
Never tried it, but rust should dissolve with acids. Try vinegar or lemon juice to start with. Ice machine cleaner (Phosphoric acid) is as far as I would go on acid strenths althought rubber is pretty resistant to most acids.
bleche white is the bidnis. spray it on, let it soak for a bit and get a nylon scrub brush and go to town, repeat if necessary.
Thanks again for all the tricks that I know have been tried with success. I've used Comet and brillo pads to bring back dirty white walls before, but never had to contend with rust. I still like that patina comment....
Bleach White leaves spots on my hubcaps, pain in the but to clean off. I like to use Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner.
