  9. I know most of you have probably already seen it. Its in chassis shop purgatory right now getting minimal updates so we can race it again without geting harrassed by the tech guys. We're getting a good deal on the price as long as he gets to work on it in between his daily projects and we don't pester him. Updated photos coming soon! IMG_0675.jpg

Heres mine. It ran out of Turlock, CA in Modified Production in the late '60s and early '70s, then D/GS with an injected smallblock and a 5:86 Olds rear.
It sat from the late '70s until I found it in 2006 less engine and trans. Found out the hard way that the 15x4 US mag front wheels are only .060 thick in the bead area (cracked one). Im still not sure if the new ET's look right on the car!

  11. I think they look great! With all the new wheels on the market (ET & Rocket to name 2) I am gonna have a hard time deciding if Americans are what I really want. Are your wheelwells radiused?

Im starting to like them more and more, maybe its the 1200 pound rating that bothers me after one of the U.S slots broke?
The wheel wells are radiused, looks like they tried to mimic the stock shape with just a folded over lip. They were probably cut out for the 11.5/29.5 Firestone Drag 500's that were on it. They also torched about an inch out of the leaf springs in 4 places!
Passenger quarter is moved out more that the drivers due to the axle bearing retainer I lost at Hot August Nights a couple years ago. Ill never again trust an axle bearing that has sat idle for 25-30 years!

  13. Been working on this one for a few months now. Found in a barn, history is sketchy, was raced in the 60s gasser wars in SoCal.

Thanks but I don't deserve all the credit. I knew exactly what I wanted, designed and made some parts plus had a local young builder here do a lot of work on it since I had the other one to work on myself. He did some really nice metal work on it. You know how it was, it has come a long way.

heres mine, i am still looking for its history........

here is my search thread on the hamb

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=317447&highlight=old+pomona+pics&page=4

i was in pomona for the gnrs and found more info on Advance speed and marine: John pandeles managed the covina store 1968-70 , he did not remember the car but it could have been sponsored from another store ,he said there were 5 advance marine stores.
    stores were located in :
    -holt ave in west Pomona
    -w Covina on Vincent
    -Covina on hacienda blvd
    -la puente
    -Azusa

Advance went out of business in 75-76
    Advance owner was Joel mattes
Sponsored: brown henry j, 67-68 hemi Gtx shortened 2 ft

it looks like the stude might have been sponsored by the store in w. pomona , it was on the north side of holt . Jim Savage was the manager of the store .....does anyone know how to contact him?
