Beautifully stunning. Glad he is keeping the drip rails, but is there a way he could curve them gracefully at the rear so they flow into the top of the trunk opening like the originals. Also glad he is keeping the 2 piece windscreen and rear window. Extended rear fenders give it a "sleek" look. Hidden hinges are perfect. Is there a way to reduce that wide rear bumper splash pan so it doesn't look like a bench seat? And then there's always the question of "keeping" or "losing" the original chevron tail lights. The thinner tail lights do and to the long, low and lean look of the fenders. Will the fenders be molded to the body?

I came into this thread all prepared to dislike how somebody had messed with the sacred design of the '40 Ford, but that looks quite nice, very Mataranga(sp?)-esque.

    Fantastic design Janne...

I have always wanted to see a 1940 Ford coupe done up as a really smooth tail dragging HT Custom.

I hope he will keep us posted here.

Well I cant argue with this quote. Kind of reminds me of a 39 or 40 merc with that kind of top. 40s are tough to make look long like a zephyr, unless you plan on stretching it.

Will be neat to see build pics as it goes along.

I would use sedan doors not the narrow coupe doors....or widen the coupe doors.

    my 2 cents....

    looks good!

Hey Janne, As you know I'm a big fan of your work. I sold that topless 37 Zephyr and I'm starting another one. I had to bring the old avatar back for inspiration and it's working. Keep turning out the great art!

Call me old fashioned -- but you can't mess with perfection - I like the original 40 much better
It is one of my all time favorite cars
