Made my own shifter...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bad Bob, Feb 22, 2010.

  1. This is what I started with. A big S wrench,I got at Long Beach for a buck! I cut the two ends off and cleaned it up.

Oh my god what is that for?

  16. and installed the skull i've had for over 44 years! It used to be on the handlebars of my Schwinn Stingray! The bolt in it broke from an milk crate jumping stunt when I was about 8. Don't know how i've held on to it all these years, but glad I did!!!
    What do you think?

Great idea with the holes drilled in it.I made a shifter out of one of those "S" wrenches once ,but it was a column shifter in a 49 pickup .I like the way you did it better though :)...

  19. Here's what it looks like in the car...
The boot's too tall,so you lose the bottom curve. I'm gonna make one that's shorter. Wish it would have been 6" longer.

Looks bitchin BB, buy some vinyl and make a small boot and use some small screvvs to hold the base, that vvould probably reveal the other S curve!! Good stuff man!!

  24. Coupe looks good, Bob!

How did you attach it to the old Hurst base?
