I think the 82 is Leigh Earnshaw, the former Carl Williams car which he currently has.

The photos are from 1971 at reading PA.

Our friend Al Consoli Advised me the the Curtis #92 was Bobby Gerhart.

I don`t know anything about the #75 with front end torn off!

those shots were from Reading, from my fathers shots, here are a couple more that might help with figuring out a time period or any other info, they were on the same negative strips as the crash shots...Rich

 

Looks like a rain-out in the last two shots.

The Zero-Tommy Dickson comes to mind for some reason,but I`m not sure. Probably Wynn`s 1 knows.

Maybe around 1968 or so.

 

A lil' off topic, but I had to crack up at this picture I found today at my parents.

Dad had me lettering race cars pretty early!

Plus a shot from when we went to ASCOT when I was 5 yrs old.

.....'Everything looks cool on the recognition of drivers in Rich's shots from #9462 and #9463 except it looks like it might be Sam Sessions in the Leffler #6. I've included a couple of aggregates from races at Eldora and Williams Grove from June of that same year (1971) for future reference.

 

I believe you are right,I goofed on that one. It is Sammy Sessions.

Tommy Dickson (Larry's brother) in the Zero and his mech. Gary Hinkle. Probably a URC race. Tommy has a car lot in Parkersbugh WV. Fighting cancer but hanging in there.

 

Josh,It's true you don't see any sprint cars parked in the trailer parks....

 

Regarding the black number 99 that went from Gary B to A. Simone.
Larry Woodland has the car in his collection at the Paso Robles, Ca Warbirds Musem.

Can anybody help ID this car? It looks a lot like the ex-Wilbur Hawthorne owned,Bob Burriss driven Kurtis-Kraft shortened Indy car that ran in the western Penna. super sprint circuit. What became of it. After Wilbur Hawthorne, it went to Dave Humpe,then disappeared. Is this the car?

Tommy Dickson's DIRECO Trevis sprinter was the original Lou Blaney/ Blaney Lumber #10 that was one of the first Trevis sprinters that were constructed and run in western Penna! John S.

The Carl Schulz "Boyle Valve Special" replica, relaxing in the sunny desert of Palm Springs, Cal at the Fausel Farms race shop.
I will be flying to Fontana, Cal, in couple of weeks, to drive this car in a three day vintage meet at the two mile California Speedway.

 

Hey Bald; You are so right about #10 Blaney/Direco 0. Dave was trying to buy the car back but Tommy won't sell. I've been after him for years to restore it and run it again. The car is still at the rendering plant I believe. Getting Tom motivated or even a little excited was always like pulling teeth. I've known him for 45yrs but Tom will be late for his own funeral.

I did learn that there were only around 12 KK2000 EVER BUILT.. and only 5 or 6 that are unaccounted for. so, that helps.

Don HaWALEY ALSO DROVE A 180 DEGREE CHEV. THAT LOU SENTER OWNED AND IT SOUNDED LIKE 2 270 0FFIES GOING UP THE BACK STRAIGHT. SOUNDED GREAT BUT DIDN't run very much as I recall.

Thanks for the link. I have been collecting photos over the past 20 years but that is the first time I saw that shot. Joe Scalzo has some great shots in his "American Dirt Track Racer" on pages 54 and 106, he uses a photo of it in the upper right corner at every chapter beginning.

Further to my PM about the "B" prefix on the KK2000 Chassis plate car (which you may or may not have got-----please let me know , I can send it again) here are some shots of the original rear hairpins on my George Shilala sprinter which remained untouched in an aircraft hangar for 38 odd years.(For those who don't know, George was Frank Kurtis' shop foreman) They seem to match the ones on your page 447 post #8926 exactly.
These had obviously added nerf bars which were removed before these shots were taken. It may help to isolate whether the ones you have are as early as '48 (these are later)
The pick up point shots are obviously different and just for reference.

As an aside , the rear engined yellow Edmunds midget is alive and well and has just changed hands to a friend in Pennsylvania
