Anyone know what will be happening at Indy over Valentine's Day weekend?

The autoram is definitely the place to be. Don't miss the multiple rooms with other cars (besides the Motorama. Plenty to see.)

A side trip to the Indy 500 museum would be a good afternoon as well.

Is Gene Winfield really going to be there? I would love to chat with him.

Yes, Gene is there saw him last night getting ready to chop a top, this will be a weekend long deal. Tom and the "Road Rockets" really rock the house this year with cars and bands. Good work Rockets.

I just got home from a day in Indy. I got to meet Mr. Winfield and even bought a T-shirt. Very cool.
They had the roof off, but were taking a break while I was there.

    A fun day for sure.

The coolest thing, I have been helping Gene chop the top, what a fucking honor! This has been one of the best weekends of my life besides the days my kids were born!

I was there earlier today and got to help Gene cut off then take off that roof!!! It was awesome!!! Oh ya, lots of cool cars in the 1962 section! Definitely a cool thing the Road Rockets sponsored. I'll have to post some pics, unless there's already a thread for that.

I had the honor of helping Gene chop the top in Indy Saturday. Cut about a six inch section with a sawzall below the rear window.

Nice show this year. I got to see a buddy who I haven't seen since returning from Iraq. He is on the team that built the replica of the 1955 Sumar Streamliner Indy car at Automotive Hammer Art http://www.autohammerart.com/id7.html
I like how in the Motorama room you can walk right up to the cars. I saw one guy who was obviously a specator open the door on a white '36 Ford "to see if it was steel". I wouldn't like that if it was my car if he didn't ask.

Got back from Indy late last night. Had to go over and see Gene Winfield. Very nice show. Gene was at his best and had a large crowd there for his top chopping demo.

During the 1:30-3:30 stint he even got some metal in his eye (the helper was wearing his safety glasses) and he just keep on working. He is a real trooper!

Be sure and buy a T-shirt while you are there. One more thing, I was very thankful for the shuttlebus that picked us up in the parking lot. We parked WAY out there and got a ride right to the front door and back. Nice touch!

We went to Indy 1962 Motorama Saturday...Great show. A must attend. Yes Gene Winfield was there.. The Road Rockets really know to put on a show. The venue is perfect for traditional cars. Thanks Guys and Gals in the Road Rockets...

He did keep on going, I think I was wearing the glasses at the time, Gene was one hell of an awsome man! We wrapped up the chop this afternoon and it turned out great and I learned more from watching and helping than I could have ever learned at a school. I will post some pics as I get them downloaded tomorrow.

John and the Road Rockets definitely know how to put on a good show. I got to meet Gene and talk with him for about a half hour early on Sat. morning. I got some pictures to post later this afternoon. I haven't had a chance to get them off the camera yet. It was one show I'm glad I didn't miss!!! Great job, can't wait for next year.
